Just realized that short of injury or Davis miraculously retiring/getting released, there are realistically no open spots for position players. I can't see them taking less than 13 pitchers, which leaves 13 position players: C - Severino and Sisco (2) IF - Mancini, Sanchez, Galvis, Ruiz, Valaika, Davis (6) OF - Mountcastle, Hays, Santander, Mullins, Stewart (5) I would really like to see Urias make the team. He can be a decent reserve, plus has some upside.

Serious question - why is this thread about Lowther and not Baumann, who is older and higher rated prospect. I get he had a sore arm last summer, but they say he's full speed.

Was thinking about this as well and don't even think it matters. As long as he is still under contract, any salary relief for covid or any other situation would still apply to his contract. if they strike he would not be paid. Only way these situations wouldn't apply to him is if he got a buyout and was not longer under contract.

Agree - I think Hays will play, so the impact of a big spring from Mullins will be more on Stewart. That said, Stewart off to a pretty good start too! Only a few games in, but good problems. Either way I'm looking forward to seeing these guys play even if they do lose 100 games. At least hope for the future.

I also don't see Mullins as a threat to Hays. Hays all be in the lineup. but I do see a battle between Hays and DJ Stewart. Not for the same position, odiously....but if Mullins shows he can play up the level of last year, I could see him starting, pushing one of the outfielders to DH leaving Stewart without a space. Would make us a better defensive team.

Your options only talk about speculating on how he would do in the majors. My choice would be "Only if he is playing at a very high level in the minor leagues and deserves the opportunity." I would love to see him slash + .300/.400/.500, and then get the call.
