  1. Thanks for the correction. With all the other draft picks starting in Delmarva, I messed that up. And yes, Aberdeen makes his debut all the more impressive!
  2. Evan Yates, the last player we selected in the draft, had a nice debut at Delmarva, pitching two shutout innings with 5 strikeouts and no walks.
  3. Nice to see Trimble quietly putting together a good season and get promoted to AA Bowie. And at the risk of jinxing him, he has 38 career stolen bases without being caught. Not bad.
  4. Just noticed that Bradfield stole the 80th base of his minor league career, and he did it in only 359 at bats. Impressive.
  5. Thanks. I was thinking of Aberdeen when they were still a short season team. It's a shame the FCL is done for the season. Would have been nice to see them get some playing time in down there. Last season Bradfield played in the FCL, was promoted to Delmarva, then Aberdeen. But this season seems a little messed up as far as the draft goes, making it harder to get them in games. But maybe spending time in Sarasota will end up being better for their development. Just looking forward to see them getting their professional careers under way.
  6. Any word on if or when the new draftees will be playing this season, and for what teams? I'm guessing some of the college guys will be in Delmarva or Aberdeen, but I haven't seen anything yet.
  7. Very good news. He's a project, but he's also the fifth youngest player we drafted and signed.
  8. One of my favorite Orioles. Sad to see him go. He got off to a bad start, but I was happy to see him turn it around. Great defense, strong arm, good hitter with some pop.
  9. Just curious to see if anyone has any info on today's 6-5 loss (7/20/24). Looks like the O's affiliate had a 5-4 lead going into the 7th inning, and they brought in their shortstop for the save. This was the second position player they used in this game. Are they short on pitchers? Or are they trying to find out if these position players can be converted to pitchers? Part of player development? Seems strange to lose a game like this. The team has been struggling and it kind of looks like they were giving it away.
  10. I was there in 2019 when Baumann pitched his no-hitter for Bowie, and I was sure he'd have a solid ML career. But I've been thoroughly disappointed since he's made the Majors. Hate to see him go, but it was the right move.
  11. This victory against the Yanks gives us the most wins in the Majors (19), tied with Cleveland, Atlanta and the Dodgers (who's games are in progress). I'll take it for what it's worth... lol. Kind of feels good at the moment.
  12. The bullpen was my biggest concern coming into spring training, and it still is. I was hoping we could add some solid arms in the off season, but that didn't happen. So I'm glad the offense scored 24 runs the first two games. If our offense wasn't on fire, then these could have been frustrating losses. Yes, it's still early, and there's plenty of time to right the ship, but our bullpen appears to be a weakness at the moment. They're not scaring anyone. But it's a long season, so I hope we make some dramatic improvement before the regular season ends. I'm not worried and I'm not panicking. Just concerned about what we've seen so far. In the end I think we'll be fine, especially if Elias makes some moves and the coaches help some of our players improve. Honestly, I'm looking forward to seeing what the pen looks like when the regular season comes to an end. Will it be good enough to help deliver a Championship? Or should we not think about that yet?
  13. Yes. We went from the 24th to the 22nd because of luxury tax penalties on the Yankees and Padres, then we have the 32nd pick for Gunnar Henderson winning the ROY Award, and the 34th pick in the Competitive Balance A round.
  14. The Orioles get the 22nd overall pick in the 2024 Draft. Better yet, the Yankees get the 26th pick! https://www.mlb.com/orioles/news/mlb-2024-draft-lottery-results
  15. You can never have enough pitching. Hopefully we can get at least one dominant arm for the starting rotation this off season, and get some legit bullpen arms to boot. I think we're good everywhere else, although I wouldn't mind getting a qualified DH for the middle of the lineup.
