  1. Oh here we go with reading into tea leaves and trying to determine when he’ll be called up.
  2. After reading a lot of Bowden’s articles over the years he doesn’t strike me as a guy who really has his ear to the ground when it comes to trades. His articles seem to be a lot of “this could make sense for these teams,” not “my sources are telling me this…”
  3. I would have been alright with Wacha. 25-6 over the past two years, 3.27 ERA with a 4.01 FIP, 1.139 WHIP. I get that he doesn’t have electric stuff and he’s more of a command guy but as a 4th or 5th (I still don’t believe we’re going after elite rotation talent) he’d be an upgrade over Gibson and Lyles. But whatever, it’s cool that the Royals are spending money.
  4. This is a good read and fantastic suggestions especially considering this was before Moneyball. Whatever happened to IBM PROS?
  5. Alomar and Kennedy, well done. @SteveAyou could get all Orioles on this grid, I think. Obviously easier with the Orioles row but I think you can do it. Edit: actually you totally can. I looked at the answers, I wouldn’t say it’s easy but there are definitely some names that wouldn’t be a stretch to think of.
  6. 9/9 36 Darryl Strawberry, Roberto Alomar, David Cone Tippy Martinez, Mark Eichhorn, Don Aase Rich Gossage, Joe Carter, Terry Kennedy
  7. It’s a good thing certain topics are banned on this forum cause the level of scrutiny, reading between lines, reading tea leaves and things like “what he meant was” or “he clearly meant” would be absolutely insufferable. I’m glad Gunnar likes playing here and I hope by the time he hits free agency we have a new owner with deep pockets that’s not afraid to spend. Until then, I’m refusing to play the “what Boras said and what it actually meant” game, enjoying guys like Gunnar while we have them and hoping for the best.
  8. lol this thread is on its way to classic status.
  9. After all the jerseys sold, fans in the seats and what he does for the SoCal economy over the course of this deal, 700 million is going to be a bargain.
  10. Oh great, we're delving down the rabbit hole of whether or not Kyle Stowers has had a fair chance.
  11. I'm not sure what you're arguing here. I don't think anyone is saying these guys are disposable player cards.
  12. Because the players and the owners have agreed to it. This isn't breaking any rules. Not only that, but this is something that every team could conceivably do. The Jays could have done this if they wanted to. The Orioles could do this in an effort to keep their burgeoning core.
