  1. Agreed. I feel like the Givens move was a token effort to add a bullpen piece, same with Colombo (or however it's spelled). Now, Elias has done well at scrap-heap bullpen moves and having those guys turn out good, Cionel Perez immediately comes to mind. It's also hard to plan for the bullpen regression, which guys are going to maintain their performance and which guys will backtrack....that's hard to figure out. But yeah, I feel like last year's bullpen performed above their heads and I'm not so sure about how this year's will do.
  2. D-. Got a good backup catcher, a couple maybe decent rotation pieces, Givens and Frazier. I’m not sure how much better we got, if any. It’s clear we’re looking for big steps from the young talent…which is fine, that was going to have to happen. But they didn’t bolster them with enough talent, IMO.
  3. I can see this team winning anywhere between 75 games and 88 games. There's just so much unknown and that's what, I think, plays a part into people ranking them last...because it's easy to ding the unknown factor. If they won 75-78 games, how mad I am at the end of the season would revolve around how they got there. I mean if Adley puts up an MVP level season and Gunnar wins ROY or finishes 2nd, am I going to be that mad? If the bullpen regresses and blows leads but Kremer and Bradish turn into legit #2 pitchers, I don't know how upset I will be. It all depends on a lot of things, I suppose.
  4. Veteran presence! I love veteran presence I agree, this is a good role for him. And I think he's a good dude. His teammates last year seemed to love him for whatever that's worth (not much, I know).
  5. Yeah, they have made worse moves. But when we're being sold on having a youth movement, and there are prospects, prospects, prospects, especially in the middle infield...the last thing we wanted was someone like Frazier. Especially for that amount of money, money that could have been better spent elsewhere by a notorious penny-pinching franchise. For me, I think that's the worst part about it. You don't want to spend money, fine. But when you do, you spend it on THAT? It's like spending 20 bucks on a lunch at McDonald's. In regards to Davis, I was okay with it but I felt that the last 2 years of that deal were going to be cringe-worthy. I didn't expect him to suck for the entire thing from the very start. SG used to parrot that phrase on here before. I get the philosophy behind it...that at least the deal can't hamstring you for multiple years on end. But looking at it through the lens of where this team sits currently, I disagree.
  6. Just came into this thread to say that the site has been working swimmingly so far today.
  7. Well @eddie83seemed to be appalled by the preconceived notions against Frazier. Excuse me, he was floored.
  8. His career average is a .728 OPS. If he does that, I'd be pleasantly surprised. He hasn't sniffed that since being traded to San Diego in 2021. If that's a preconceived notion, I apologize but I don't think I'm getting too carried away here.
  9. No one's surprised. Two things could be happening here: the most likely possibility is that Angelos is blowing this off. Or, he's planning on holding true to his word but doing some sort of "book cooking" where he can make the books say what he wants them to say and provide a well rehearsed narrative to the media.
  10. VA state flag has a bare boob on it. Advantage, Virginia.
  11. It looks like a kid had a seizure in the middle of art class.
  12. I agree that there's more talent here than in previous seasons. IMO, this season will be as successful as the rotation takes us. If Gibson can match what Lyles did last year and if Kremer and Bradish can provide what they did towards the end of last year, I like our chances.
  13. 83-86. Balanced schedule and less games against the AL East should wipe out any regression in performances from certain players.
  14. I've already had enough of a meltdown over his signing in the offseason, I'm full prepared for however terrible he will be and to have Elias keep trotting him out there.
  15. I'm with Frobbecino on this one. Looks like Grayson's Stuff+ and Command+ stuff'd and commanded him 3 dingers in 15 innings, 12 earned runs and a bus ticket to Norfolk.
  16. What kind of meltdown are you going to have if/when we're 60 games into the season and Frazier's hitting .205 and doesn't appear to be going anywhere?
  17. Those Braves City Connect jerseys are really well done. Not too flashy and an appropriate tribute to Hank Aaron.
  18. Bro, he's not paying 8 mill to Frazier to flush down the toilet. It's just not going to happen.
  19. There's no way he's pulling the plug on 8 million Frazier when he didn't pull the plug on 700k Rougned Odor last year. Odor doesn't bring the versatility (Frazier can stand around in the outfield, BFD) that Frazier does so he's going to be more inclined to make us suffer the entire season. Frazier should have never been signed, Westburg should have had to battle it out in camp for the role. But I agree with SG, he was ready late last year.
  20. It might. I mean, if the options would have been between G-Rod and someone like Asher Wojo, they might have just rolled the dice with G-Rod. Having Tyler Wells as a fall-back option right now makes this move a little easier.
