Appears Grayson pitched his way to AAA to start the year

Lol, I agree with CoC about teams gaming the clock, he just likes to beat that dead horse way more than I do. -

There's no way to really know that as no front office anywhere would cop to it. -
Looks like this is how the rotation shakes out

Semantics. I do believe they would look for any/every opportunity to send him down and he didn't hesitate to give it to them. You and I and everyone else here knows that he doesn't have anything left to prove in the minors. There was a good chance he could have been up last year if it weren't for the lat strain. So he's had a subpar spring training, so what? I'd prefer to see him work through any command/breaking ball issues at the ML level. But, the almighty service time. -

I don't know if this was *the* primary motivation but I believe it certainly was *a* primary motivation. -

You don't think this made their decision easier for them? Ok. -

You don't think that has anything to do with this? C'mon. -

I seem to remember getting laughed at all offseason when I said this was a distinct possibility and probably likely to happen. -
Has Vavra played his way into a starting 2B job?

Have you seen ANGRY Frobby? Doesn't happen often but when it does...hooo boy. -

Based strictly on the idea that Frazier is at a point where he isn't magically going to become a better player while Vavra is on the upside of his career. Playing the "wait and see" card is the safe and obvious call here. But if we're into predicting and pontificating (which is, like, 75%+ of what goes on this site), I think Frazier will make us pine for Rougned Odor. Same player at a fraction of the cost, plus we didn't ever have to see Rougned Odor in the outfield. -

He should start over Frazier, but that’s a low bar to hurdle seeing how bad Frazier is. But Frazier isn’t being paid to ride the bench. -
That’s not true, we’re still paying Chris Davis.

Ranking the O's starters for the 2023 season

It’s like they’re gonna be this generations Braves rotation or something. WC, when you do your inevitable lineup prediction thread, are our guys gonna look like the ‘27 Yankees? Frazier as Tony Lazzeri? -

Let him go between 5 and 6 innings a start would be my guess. -

We do? What’s that? Been saying this is a distinct possibility all winter. They’ll look for every excuse to game his clock. Hyde not committing to him being in the rotation looks like it could be the start of the excuse making. I swear, if that whole “they need to have Hall pitch on the same day as G-Rod in relief” talk keeps going…. -
I'm not your buddy, guy.

Why not? Not like you don't have anything better to do.

*yawns* I'd like to see what evidence you have of ownership removing profits for personal use in this particular case. A lot of people here do. They want to know that their whining about SPENDING MOAAAAARRRR is justified.

Yes.

Yeah, they did a fantastic job. Bonus that Melanie Newman won't be on the broadcast this year. But visually, it was stunning.

It doesn't really matter. If MLB had some silly rule about being only able to use the 26 guys you have on Opening Day for the entire season then this becomes a big topic. But they start roster shuffling and sending guys up and down after the first or second series. That said, this is probably as good of a guess as anyone can make. I will say that this is the first time in a long time where I expect the majority of the OD guys to be on the roster at Game 162. Seems like the last few years there's been the chance that you could have a completely different Game 162 roster than you did on Opening Day because most everyone was expendable. So that's a nice change.
