This is one of those situations where I don’t feel confident in Lopez coming in.

Avoiding 100 losses is what I’m looking for. I’d be pretty happy with 70 wins. Everything would have to break right for this team to be .500.

Lat strains? Do some sit-ups. Get an ab wheel. At least it’s not the arm but we all know this means he’s done for the season. Wait, I thought someone’s sister’s bouyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with Grayson that said it wasn’t that serious at 31 flavors last night?

“The Sun” sign at OPACY to be taken down?

I am heartbroken. Devastated, even. -
Doris Burke is fantastic. I dunno, it's different with basketball for some reason.

I got crucified on here when Newman got hired and I said I preferred not to hear a woman's voice on PBP. That hasn't really changed and I DGAF who wants to say I'm not progressive enough or whatever. That said, I think Newman has gotten better since she started but she's still not great. And what drives me absolutely nuts is the little fake chuckle she does all the time. Garceau vs. Newman is a tough one. For me, it depends on the day, probably. The thing I like about Newman, even though she can be monotone a lot, she has some enthusiasm from time to time. I dunno. For today, it's Garceau. But I can't say who I'd prefer tomorrow or in a week from now.

Yeah, because guys who are stud prospects should need more time. But a Ryan McKenna wouldn't need more time because he should be able to adjust faster. It's not warped logic just because you say so.
-
I think you've got it backwards. It seems only logical that one of the top prospects in baseball should come up and hit right away and that you should be preaching patience towards lesser prospects who would only need more time to figure it out.

I find it hilarious when the small sample size king preaches patience.

When is it acceptable to start freaking out about his offense? Or have we started down that path already?

Mateo League Leader in Defensive WAR
Moose Milligan replied to NelsonCruuuuuz's topic in Orioles Talk
That's a great explanation but from what I can tell the defensive metrics don't take into account that Hernandez played 1B different/better than anyone else. I agree with your overall stance that if he was a truly great defensive player he'd have been a CF or SS...but that also dings Hernandez on his athleticism, I suppose. Not everyone can play SS or CF, but that doesn't mean you can't be a tremendous fielder. Like, do the defensive metrics take into consideration what he does in this video at 1:12? -
Mateo League Leader in Defensive WAR
Moose Milligan replied to NelsonCruuuuuz's topic in Orioles Talk
I bet @DrungoHazewoodcan speak to this better than any of us can, but I don't understand the Hernandez quandary, either. I know he played 1B different than others, he'd charge bunts and the Mets defensive rotation was different than any other team because of what he was able to do as a defender. I'm sure if this was Eddie Murray we were talking about we'd be a bit more up in arms about how he got shafted by dWAR and that anyone who was able to watch him play would say he was a better defender than the defensive metrics say. -
Looking for the "Lowther optioned" thread.

Would anyone would have wanted him prior to 2021? His ceiling was higher than ever at the end of last season. And I know you said you wanted to trade him to the Marlins in the offseason several times. Depending on the return, I probably would have been in favor of it, too. I mean, I don't think anyone thought he'd be able to repeat what he did last year. You can't say that his trade value is as high as it would have been this past offseason with the way he's performed, as you've noted, since August of last year. So is it higher than before 2021? Sure, but that's a low bar to hurdle. Is it as high as it was at the end of 2021? It can't be. And I bet it's probably falling by the week. Maybe he catches fire again but I have my doubts as I'm sure you do, too.
-
Ah yes, the OH trade world. Where selling low on players results in franchises parting with their top talent.
-
Lol how’d I know there’d be a thread about him?

It's most likely a given that we'll only get one All-Star this year but I think we should get more. There's a bit of a way to go between now and July 19th but as it stands right now I think we've got some deserving guys. Keegan Akin, especially if he continues on this trajectory seems to be a guy who could make the ASG. Same for Austin Hays. Who else? Maybe Mancini if he finds his power stroke. Felix Bautista? Cionel Perez? Even Jorge Lopez? It's apparent that this team isn't the dumpster fire a lot of people (including me) thought they were going to be headed into the season. Whether or not people start to take notice between now and when the voting starts will be a different story. But I think there's a case for some guys, especially members of the arm barn who are currently sitting in a position to take some spots.

1-4 in the first game, 2-5 in the second. .297/.361/.455 He's certainly making a case for himself to be a core player in this rebuild and I'm here to eat my crow. Douse it in Old Bay or some wing sauce, please.

No.

He has a bit of a highwire act, for sure. I think the bullpen has been the biggest surprise of this season so far. And as @Ohfan67noted, these are pretty much scrap heap guys and failed starters. It's really awesome to see. Hey @Can_of_cornhow about Dillon Tate?

Melanie wasn’t as bad as I thought she’d be. Cliff Floyd is very laid back. But jeez, the game looked fantastic. The camera angles were great, the picture was crystal clear. Great visual presentation.
