  1. I hope they'll spend money when they're in "win now" mode. But first, I would hope that they'd spend to keep guys like AR, G-Rod and whatever other home grown talent comes up that looks to be part of an identifiable core. I agree, I think it's those 4 for this year and that's it. Maybe Westburg, too. We won't see DL Hall for awhile.
  2. But you really can? IMO, roster spots for prospects need to be earned, not held. I'm not interested in holding a rotation spot for anyone, really, outside of Grayson Rodriguez because he's done enough in the minors to earn it. It may sound callous, but I'd rather see G-Rod and Bradish but not Zimmermann and T. Wells. I'd rather have kept Wells in the bullpen where he showed promise last year rather than try to stretch him out this year, but whatever, I get the argument for wanting to see if he can start. Quite frankly, I don't need to see Akin in a starting role again and I also don't feel the need to see Kremer and Lowther wear an Orioles uniform again. I would much rather have promoted G-Rod and AR this year with actual major leaguers surrounding them and not the Travis Lakins of the world. I would want AR to catch innings from guys like Ed-Rod and Kluber. I would want G-Rod to be in meetings with Ed-Rod and Kluber. You can't put a value on on that. I mean, I've heard Jim Palmer not shut up for 20 years about how his first roommate was Robin Roberts. Do you think that was done by accident? What do you not understand about the Kluber love, other than he doesn't walk anyone and a team that is way smarter and does everything better than us saw some value in bringing him in?
  3. You could still get looks for those guys with a rotation of Ed-Rod and Kluber. Everyone understands wanting to get looks for the younger guys but that's no reason to have a rotation like we currently do. Had they gone into the season with a 1, 2, 3 of Means, Ed-Rod and Kluber, that still gives room for Bradish to come up at some point, Rodriguez too.
  4. I'll say I don't care about the wins when it comes to things like how AR, G-Rod and others guys that have been identified as key pieces are producing. I want to see AR be a top 3 ROTY candidate, I want to see G-Rod look like a TOR starter. And if Stowers and Hall come up, I want to see them contribute right away. I know if that happens and if Mullins hits like he did last year or comes close to it...same with Mountcastle and Urias, they'll win some games. The wins do matter to a certain extent, I would prefer to see this group not lose 100 games this year. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm not sure what a good, solid win total from this group should look like after AR, G-Rod, Stowers and Bradish are up. Maybe for me, it's just exactly that...avoiding 100 losses. Anyway, we agree...we could have these guys and better players around them but Elias punted on that this past offseason which was pathetic.
  5. We can only hope. Barring injury, I think we can all agree that there are two guys that we should 100% see up this year: 1. Adley 2. G-Rod Who are the rest that you guys feel have to get up here this year? Bradish. I'm assuming Stowers at some point. I'd like to say DL Hall but I'm betting there's a strict innings limit on him. I'd like to see, as you said, "actual prospects" come up but I can see Adley, G-Rod, Bradish and Stowers being the only "actual prospects" that come up this year. I mean, if Elias is dicking around with Lakins and Diplan and signing Matt Harvey to a MiL deal, it kind of gives some insight as to where his head is at right now. Granted, that could change later this summer but I get the feeling that we're just going to have to suck it up and realize that Elias is going to promote guys at a slow, annoying, deliberate pace.
  6. I will give credit when credit is due, I like Elias from the perspective of having built a really great system and organization. I know some of the pieces were already here when he got here and Adley was the overall #1 pick no brainer but still, he's done a great job. The Dominican facility, analytics, etc...I like all of that, it's all fantastic. But that doesn't absolve him from any criticism about how he's handling the roster. I'm with Tony on this, it's getting absurd. There's no reason why Bradish shouldn't be up and getting a start tomorrow. In regards to Means, I think we should prepare to see him sometime next year.
  7. 27 inches is also @Can_of_corn’s inseam for his pants, coincidentally.
  8. This is awesome. .200 hitters making Boone look like an idiot.
  9. The at bats by Santander and specifically Mullins in the 8th inning today were pathetic.
  10. It’s like the OP hasn’t been watching for the past 4 years.
  11. Wait till May 4th. IIRC, he was insufferable last year with all the Star Wars references be was pulling out.
  12. Lol Rougie Odor. If he makes it more than three pitches in this at bat, I'll consider it a success.
  13. Wow, Mancini actually did something. Nice. Tying run to the plate! Feel the excitement, Kevin Brown!
  14. Way to work the count, Mountcastle.
  15. It's totally true. You think Jordan Westburg exists? Nope, you're getting Chris Owings.
  16. Pedro Severino could have done that.
  17. F*** all the way off, Aaron Boone.
  18. Lakins reminds me of Terry Mathews. Man, he is bad. He's encroaching on Kline/DeJean territory.
