  1. I dunno who that haughty bastard was that wrote that, but it was terrible.
  2. I was just continuing the rhyme scheme.
  3. Yeah, this is a headscratcher. I mean, if you're looking at it from the perspective of a veteran presence, fine, I get it, Matt Harvey has experience. But Cueto was available. But Yamamoto is a guy we should take a look at regardless. He's had some arm issues and he doesn't throw hard so he'd fit right in with our Quad-A All-Stars.
  4. Nothing wrong with trying to get the best odds for the #1 draft pick ping pong ball. It's just going to be another hard team to watch this year. IMO, it's really all about AR, G-Rod and maybe DL Hall if he can crack the bigs. It's about Mullins if he can come close to what he did last year, to see if Mountcastle can increase plate discipline and if Mancini can get back to 2019 levels (or traded). And, of course, it's about what minor leaguers step up and make improvements, too. I honestly don't care about the rest. I'm prepared for continued disappointment from our Quad-A type arms. But go ahead, Elias, try to get that #1 pick next year, too.
  5. Two way street. What about saying "Hey, no, I'm not going to support your habit and I'm not giving you these drugs."? Would that be personal responsibility?
  6. I stopped reading at inconsequential details. Keep playing yourself homie.
  7. Lmao @Matt Bennettreminding people to breathe here, this is hilarious
  8. https://www.insidehook.com/daily_brief/sports/allegations-matt-harvey-involved-death-teammate-tyler-skaggs Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't. Let's assume, Froberto Duran, that it's not true. That he just got his drugs from the same guy that gave it to Skaggs and that's all. I mean...the point still stands, IMO. I don't mind giving a guy who's had drug issues a second chance. Like if there was a Dwight Gooden or Darryl Strawberry equivalent talent out there right now, yeah, I'd give that guy a second chance all day every day. The skill set and production level has to outweigh the risk.
  9. Are you kidding me? I know you like being the contrarian on here sometimes but this is a weird situation to flex on. We absolutely do have the luxury of not giving a crap about the personal aspects of an organization, but then you go ahead and say "people who actually run organizations have to take these things into consideration." Yeah, he was professional last year but that doesn't overlook the giant cloud that's hanging over this guy's head. I said I don't care about it and I don't. But there are plenty of others that do...and when you take into consideration his performance last year with the opioid situation and the death of a former teammate that he was directly involved in, I'm not sure how you can justify your stance on "people who actually run organizations have to take these things into consideration." There are plenty of other players who could give a similar performance WITHOUT the negative aspect of Harvey's personal life. Like you said, a low maintenance break-only-in-case-of-emergency is a fine signing. But does it have to be the guy who's a former cocaine user and played a part in Tyler Skaggs' death? It can't be someone else who doesn't have that baggage?
  10. It's still a dumb move. Why would anyone try to justify it, especially when there were better options available for a retread ML pitcher who'd accept a minor league deal?
  11. I know he went to Yale. But it's a big deal to those guys if you switch up their schools and confuse the two. Y'know, in case anyone in the Warehouse is reading.
  12. No, I believe he's smart, I was just being an ass about it. He went to TJ, too. He's not a dummy. He took his smarts and applied them and was a good student to top it all off. But you look at a move like this and just wonder WTF. It doesn't make sense when there were way better options available.
  13. There's lobster tail on that $151 burger. Wagyu beef. Truffle aioli. HOLD ME BACK.
  14. Because our young stud pitchers will soon be flanking! Soon this Orioles team will be cranking! And then they'll have have a higher ranking!
  15. If these guys are butthurt about being called out in public, I wonder how they feel about giving up 450 foot bombs repeatedly.
  16. Just because he went to Harvard doesn't make him smart.
  17. God dammit. And, for the record, I couldn't care less about the opioid stuff. I will say this about that: it helps to stop looking at pro athletes to set good examples. A lot of them are uneducated scumbags. For every Brooks Robinson you get there are dozens of guys on the opposite end of the spectrum. I saw that Johnny Cueto got picked up the White Sox on a minor league deal the other day, we could have done that. He's a better pitcher. And while I don't care about the baggage, I recognize that others do and Cueto doesn't have any. That's the thing that bugs me the most here. If you want to get a ML retread pitcher on a minor league deal, fine. But there were better options out there from a variety of angles.
  18. Elias bears some responsibility here, but he's not the one out there throwing the pitches. It's also ignorant to think that he's able to wave a magic wand over guys that have middling stuff like Akin, Kremer, Lowther, A Wells, Zimmerman and they'll be respectable big league pitchers. Odds are against these guys. They're just not that impressive on practically every level. Elias can call them out all he wants, that's fine. I'm sure they're putting in the time and effort, too, but you can't squeeze blood from a rock which is what it must be like to coax good pitching out of guys like this.
  19. I feel bad for him too but I think Richie will get his day in the sun once again this summer. Not too worried about him.
  20. It's gotta be a mix between options 2 and 3. If he gets in the way of Urias and Mateo, that's a crime. I agree, it's inevitable that he's DFA'd.
  21. Cool. Let us know what the teeth gnashing does for you in the end.
  22. Oh darn. How will we move forward without DJ Stewart?
