  1. I agree. I'm not so much interested in the dollars coming off the books as I'm interested in him just finally, hopefully being gone and not having to watch him play and not having to see how he clogs the roster. If he's on the roster somehow next year and it's affecting RMC/Mancini...I will be irate.
  2. Oh look at Frobby putting his lawyering pants on.
  3. You mean this subtle context? https://www.totalprosports.com/2021/07/17/marcus-stroman-says-mets-fan-hate-him-because-hes-african-american-after-benches-clearing-brawl-tweet/ He said it, so it has to be true. Anyway, in regards to Keegan Akin, I'm perfectly fine never seeing him in an Orioles uniform ever again. Had some great moments last night, but those were offset by the fact that the Tigers were hitting his stuff like it was sitting on a tee.
  4. The better article was the one on The Athletic yesterday comparing/contrasting what Zaidi has done with the Giants vs. Elias and the Orioles. I guess this franchise can try to start winning when they bring up AR.
  5. Well Frobbacino, we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one.
  6. Snore. Wake me up when he gets called up to Baltimore. I don't know how to quantify the difference between AAA and AA, really. You get guys making the jump to the majors from AA, you also get guys making the jump to the majors from AAA. IMO, there's not a huge difference. I expect him to do well in AAA just like he was at AA.
  7. If he could hit .250 he'd be an asset. His OBP would be .380-.400 And even if he could do that, he'd have to be a full time DH. With the current roster construction, there's no room for that.
  8. Sure. It couldn't hurt. But I'm someone who thinks Kremer won't amount to anything at all so why not try? At the same time, "It worked for Cedric Mullins" isn't a plan. Mullins dropped hitting from the right side and figured he could hit lefties better than he thought he could from the left side. That isn't this with Kremer.
  9. Another guy with average (more likely, below average) stuff. The fastball isn't fast. Velocity isn't the only thing that matters but it doesn't have a lot of movement and he hadn't been able to locate it well. Changeup, as brother Frobicito noted, didn't have enough difference in velocity to make a big enough of a difference. Curve/slider was average, looking, too. Just nothing special across the board.
  10. It's good to see him hitting well. IIRC this is around the same time last year that he was brought up and started mashing, maybe he performs well in August and September. I would like to see an increased walk rate, though.
  11. Man, I don't know where you learned to write but I love it.
  12. F'ING pathetic. Cedric's gotta do better. He knows better.
  13. Much has been made about those trades over the years. Some like to whine that we didn't get enough, ignoring that all of those contracts were about to expire. Some like to say the perceived value of what we got in return was fine, given the fact that those contracts were expiring. All I'll say is that it's pretty sad that we didn't get a single piece back that looks to be a part of our future. I'm not whining and complaining that we didn't get an All-Star out of the deal...I'm just saying it's sad that none of these guys have transformed into an every day player or a decent rotation piece. I think the most promising piece off the top of my head looks to be Dillon Tate. IMO, I think that's what people are most upset about...there's absolutely nothing to show for these trades. I'm not really mad about it, it's just a bummer.
  14. Didn't think he was a great prospect coming back for Manny, certainly don't think he is anything to consider for the future right now.
  15. Valdez doesn't really fire off anything. Kinda soft tosses everything. But point taken. Yes, Shaun Anderson would be another candidate to be DFA'd, too.
  16. He can spin his way off the team, IMO.
  17. Harvey is here on a one year deal, no one's confusing him with being a long term solution. His FIP is a respectable 4.24. It's been documented on here, he's been a victim of some terrible fielding behind him this year. Anyway, that FIP is the lowest it's been for him since 2018. I'm not saying we should sign him for another year, although it wouldn't be a terrible option if he continues to pitch well in the second half and he's our 4th or 5th starter next year. None of our young arms have stepped up this year, in fact practically all of them have been a collective disaster. Harvey's no long term solution but I wouldn't mind giving him another one year deal next year if he keeps pitching well this year. I don't mind rewarding a guy who's worked as hard as he has. No one else deserves to be rewarded a spot in the rotation next year except Means.
  18. Kevin Brown noted during the game that he's steadily been climbing up in the order. With the way he's been swinging, Mullins and Urias could be a decent 1-2 punch here pretty soon.
  19. Good enough to keep Jones down on the farm, apparently.
  20. Pretty sure there was another Urias thread made recently but I can't find it. He closed out July hitting .303 for the month. 23 hits in 76 at bats. .354 on base percentage, 17 strikeouts, 5 walks. He's got about as much strength as an '85 Hyundai but the bat to ball skills are looking pretty good.
  21. Prayers up to Donnie Ballgame, I hope he makes a quick recovery. Certainly hope none of our guys have it, too. Weird times we're in.
  22. He does have some decent stuff. I dunno about having him come in as a closer, I wouldn't be opposed to it as we've got closer by committee going on right now. But I agree, the experiment of him in the rotation has run its course. They clearly like him enough to have kept him around this long and he does seem to have some decent raw stuff. The two-seamer is nice, as you mentioned. I know some people are going to cringe but I do believe he's in the plans, somehow, some way. They could have easily sent him down and replaced him with a Watkins type a month or two ago but they didn't.
  23. I wonder if they'll move Lopez to the bullpen and DFA Valdez when Zimmermann comes back. Lopez might be a guy who can come out of the pen and go through a lineup once or twice. I wouldn't want him to come into a game unless he gets to start a clean inning, but if he can come in for the 6th and 7th innings if a starter goes 5, he might have some value. Hopefully Zimmermann can provide some good starts for this team down the stretch, it would really help with the outlook of the team moving forward. Means stepped up big time this year...and dare I say it, Harvey is stepping up? If Zimmerman can deliver good outings down the stretch, that makes 2022's rotation look more appealing.
  24. 6k's and 1 walk. Looked really good tonight. The changeup was working.
  25. He's on a bit of a roll, but I don't think this is real. Granted his FIP is better than his ERA by a good stretch so the ERA was probably going to come back to earth. Not striking out enough batters for me to think this is real, but whatever. Totally happy for the guy, he deserves another day in the sun and to enjoy pitching well. He's been through a lot, it's great to see.
