  1. Ever have a bad day at work? That said, I think you could be correct. I think there's a high probability he manages to the metrics and last night was an example of that backfiring.
  2. I've seen enough. When can we send him back down? Wait, he's not approaching Holliday's first stint at-bat totals yet, is he? When can I rightfully declare that I've run out of patience?
  3. Agreed on Mayo. And Smith. And yes, it wasn't directed at you...but the hysterics around here are ridiculous when it comes to some things, particularly Hyde.
  4. Yeah, I'd agree that's best case. And then followed by that this injury doesn't crop up the rest of the way, of course.
  5. And that's fine. Like I said, I do believe some criticism is warranted here. But the over the top "He's a terrible manager, he needs to go" stuff is...well, exactly that. Over the top and ridiculous. Like, I get everyone wanted to see Holliday hit in that situation last night...I mean, I wanted to see him hit, too. That's what we're all excited about, right? That kid is living up to expectations at the big league level, he hit a piss missile earlier in the game...everyone's on the edge of their seats to see him do it again in the 8th inning. I get it, I completely get it. But I'm also going to refuse to get upset at the fact that the guy who pinch hit for him drew a walk and kept the inning going, as if that's some sort of indictment on Hyde's managerial skills because we didn't all get to see the brand new shiny toy up there in a late and close situation. For the record, I would have preferred to have seen Holliday hit, too. And Cowser. Those guys are key pieces to the future of this team, they need to see at bats against lefties. I said this last night. But like I said, I'm not getting mad over the fact that Slater drew a walk. That's absurd.
  6. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. I mean, it's probably not a grade 3, obviously. But if I'm Elias I'm looking at ways to get through the season without G-Rod and the playoffs, too. If he can come back at any time to the rotation or even the bullpen, that's a bonus.
  7. People are antsy because it feels like it can be very boom or bust, IMO. And recency bias....getting schooled last night by Bassitt makes people forget the last two games against Cleveland. In regard to G-Rod, I hope he's back for the playoffs. That's probably wishful thinking. At least it's not the arm.
  8. T-Ro Price better deliver a gem tonight is all I can say. I mean, I'll sleep well either way. But this place might come off the hinges.
  9. I'd actually argue that he executed fine on that one pitch to Varsho. That was a slider that broke across the plate and was about 4-6 inches off the plate when he pulled it into RF. That's, like, what Ryan Mountcastle wishes he could do, execpt from the opposite side. Varsho isn't a great hitter, he shouldn't have been able to do that. I don't think he's able to do that if he tried 10 more times. Soto has been bad so far but all that matters is what SG said above...if he can get right before the playoffs.
  10. It's like Frobby makes a really good point but everyone ignores it cause they don't like it.
  11. Don’t you dare speak Tim Beckham’s name in the same breath as Jackson Holliday’s.
  12. I'm usually a Hyde defender...and I really don't care, I'm going to defend him in a little bit here. But tonight was pretty awful, all around. Going by the book, being a slave to matchups all the time...it's a bit much. I get it, you've gotta see what you've got in Soto (to see if he's really that bad, it looks like he is) but Burch Smith has been excellent. Cowser has been hitting great lately, Holliday is hitting piss missiles all of a sudden like it's batting practice....I don't care about the matchups, I don't care about lefty/lefty or whatever the hell...gotta ride with the hot hands. Cowser looks to be a piece of the future, he's gotta hit lefties eventually. Holliday is in the same boat. So I get the Hyde criticism tonight, I really do. But if those moves work out, no one here is saying anything. I've said it before, I'll say it again, the easiest things "fans" can do is grumble when a move is being made that they don't like and then pile on when that move doesn't work out. Yeah, it's easy to say that he shouldn't have brought Soto in when we all know that a lefty/lefty matchup is advantageous, so don't pretend that the matchup couldn't favor Soto (especially against Varsho who isn't a great hitter).
  13. Genesis Cabrera is the name of a south beach stripper.
  14. If they can get 5 runs in an inning so can we.
  15. Bro go hang with your wife and stop banging away on your phone about this stupid game.
  16. I’d love to see Schneider get popped in the mouth
  17. Have you bothered to look at his pitch counts lately? Should have left Burch in.
  18. It was like six inches off the plate, Varsho is hitting like .200, no way he should be able to pull that to the right side. McDonald even said it was a decent pitch.
