  1. Lol a guy competing and holding his own at the highest level of a professional sport and people are calling him un-athletic.
  2. I hope Henderson doesn't end up there. I don't think that would be good. I agree, Mountcastle's position outside of DH will be 1B.
  3. Then I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
  4. Outfield depth. Diaz, for example. In other words, the Mountcastle in the outfield experiment failed, which is fine because we have a lot of outfielders that we need to take a look at. I don't know if the Orioles are going to give Mancini a long term contract. I wouldn't be surprised if they did and I wouldn't hate it, depending on the dollars and the length of course. I can deal with a Mancini/Mountcastle duo of 1B/DH over the next 5 years.
  5. I think you're confusing un-athletic with lack of grace. DJ Stewart is very athletic. He doesn't always look great, but that doesn't mean he's un-athletic.
  6. I feel like we had that game yesterday. I'm happy we took 2/3 but the Orioles kinda blew it.
  7. That’s good. I’ve seen enough of Zimmermann, too.
  8. Yeah, I think you're getting a little carried away. But at least it looks like, for now anyway, that we've got two starters that really give us a shot to win each time out.
  9. I’ve seen the innings like this so many times from the Orioles in the field. Feels good to be laughing at someone else for once. That was fun!!
  10. Oh, we’re all of a sudden on the TRADE MEANS BANDWAGON!! now? Great. Four months of hypothetical trades and and then incessant whining when he’s not traded. Can’t wait.
  11. He will get Cy Young votes at this rate. Probably a top 5 finisher. Remains to be seen if this is for real or just a hot stretch. But you can’t deny that he’s schooled the A’s twice in a week. That’s hard to do.
  12. I don't want to say Cedric is for real just yet but...man, it's so tempting. That was a great shot by Hays, too...but I am more impressed by what Cedric just did. That was pretty amazing.
  13. I don't know where to look for attempted 3rd base steals, but I don't know if there's anyone out there outside of Buxton, Trea Turner and maybe a couple others that could be looked at as immediate stolen base threats. I remember Richie Martin being relatively quick but not a burner. I don't know if he's that guy.
  14. ...That's not the point of that quote.
  15. I feel like laying down the old Rick Pitino "Larry Bird is not walking through that door," quote directed at @Frobby, but updated for the current day Orioles. *ahem* Brooks Robinson is not walking through that door. Manny Machado is not walking through that door.
  16. Gotta give props to Elias for bringing him in. Loved this quote: How can you not root for a guy like that? Remains to be seen if he can keep this up...but if he can, it's fantastic.
  17. He's not Mark Reynolds though. I'll wait while you look up the fancy fielding stats.
  18. I'm not sure what to make of Kremer. One minute I think he's a guy that has some really good stuff and he needs to trust it more than he does. In a way, kind of like Bedard needed to stop nibbling and start attacking. Other times I look at him and just think he doesn't have the command to compete. It's hard to say so far.
  19. I know Franco isn't the best defender in the world, but he's shown some quickness around the bag and made some great plays. He's not going to get to them all and he's not a GG caliber guy but I've been surprised with some of the smashes he's been able to come up with. The stop tonight to start the double play off Stanton's rocket was nice. IIRC, Palmer said it was 113 mph off the bat. Last night he robbed Odor on a wicked one hopper. Sunday against the Athletics he robbed Garcia on a sliding play towards the line. While he's still made some errors, it hasn't all been bad. He's made quite a few great plays at 3rd so far this season.
  20. Well then Lucas Giolito is a different beast than mere peons like me and @Frobby. Clearly throwing 95 mph brings other issues such as cutting your hand on a glass bottle when it's not a twist-off.
  21. You say they're not easy to replace and then list a bunch of guys who have been easily replaceable. The Fearsome Foursome that brother @interloperhas put in this poll don't really strike me as guys that are significantly better than a guy like Hess, Brooks, Yefry Ramirez, Yacabonis, etc. They might be a little bit better, they might have some more upside, but will they reach it? The big thing that separates them from a Milone/LeBlanc type is the age. The Fearsome Foursome here do have some upside but practically every franchise has a guy like Lowther in their system that sits 89-92. I will grant you that none of us thought that John Means was anything when he came up, but that guy is the exception to the rule. For every guy like Means you get, there are literally dozens of fungible guys that can be swapped out at any time with similar results. Look, I'm not saying these guys don't deserve chances because they absolutely do. I'm just saying they all appear to be average. FWIW, missed the part about butterfingers Akin cutting himself while making breakfast. I feel like that's a Crash Davis "When you get in a fight with a drunk, you don't hit them with your pitching hand," kind of a moment. Someone tell Akin when he's chopping up ingredients for his omelette, don't let your pitching hand get in the way.
  22. Somewhere, @wildcardis happy that Valaika is up and getting at bats. They might be down on Urias, he certainly hasn't show much this year. I think he should get some consistent playing time/plate appearances but it's not like the guy profiles to be much of a hitter.
