I'm excited!!!

This is a good post. I don't think Davis necessarily cares about legacy....if so, he might have quit two years ago. Long gone are the 40 and 50 homer seasons, finishing 3rd in the MVP race, being scorching hot down the stretch in 2012 and playing on winning teams....his legacy isn't going to be a good one, it's going to be a bad one now...probably the worst contract in baseball history. He's going to be remembered more for this rather than anything good he did on the field. Not that he cares about that. I'm assuming he doesn't...and if I had 161 million coming my way, I might not care either. It's easy to sit on a message board and talk about the "right thing to do." Quite another thing altogether to walk that talk...everyone has a price and it looks like we know what Davis' price is. This has been a perfect storm, I have to think that if it weren't for Covid last year and a short season, they would have released him. There's labor strife on the horizon and I also have to think that if they're keeping him on the roster this year it's because they think they can save some money if there's a strike/lockout. They just need to cut him...we've been saying this for years and i think we'll continue saying that, unfortunately. He clogs the roster, he prohibits more deserving players from getting a shot...it's just terrible no matter how you look at it. But he's made it this far, I don't think it's over until his contract is over. Which is pathetic.

Szymborski: John Means could be a no. 2 starter
Moose Milligan replied to Frobby's topic in Orioles Talk
Means until someone else takes over. I'm assuming it'll be Rodriguez but who knows. -
7 or 8, probably. I'm not impressed until I am. IMO, we've got a bunch of Rick Krivdas, Jimmy Haynes and Rocky Coppingers here, until proven otherwise. Seen this one too many times before.
-
Is he still here?
-
All I need to see is one at bat to know.

David Hess just gave up his third dinger of the inning to the Red Sox. I do not miss that guy.

Pretty good against RHP.

Orioles Spring Training Player Health Updates

I'm assuming Hunter Harvey will be making an appearance here. -
In a weird way, you're kinda right.

Everyone has something to prove. There's no one on this roster that can afford to sit back and take it easy.
-
If that's the case and they knew about that headed into the draft and picked him anyway...Of course we'll never know if that's the scenario, but that's a big strike for Elias if so.

Yankees gotta have some, too. -

Dude has a punchable face, he'll end up in Boston for sure. No more Papi, no more Pedroia. They need a punchable face. -
I don't know...giving that money to Machado instead of Davis wouldn't have prevented the collapse but it would have made these teams a bit easier to watch. Maybe they would have traded him though anyway, who knows.
-
The only change I'm interested in is him not being on the team.

Kiley McDaniel at ESPN has: 1. Jordan Lawlar HS SS 2. Jack Leiter Vandy RHP 3. Kumar Rocker Vandy RHP 4. Jaden Hill LSU RHP 5. Matt McLain. UCLA SS 6. Marcelo Mayer. HS SS 7. Brady House. HS SS 8. Gunnar Hoglund Ole Miss RHP 9. Adrian Del Castillo Miami C 10. Kahlil Watson HS SS I'm not sure how you'd have a HS SS above Leiter or Rocker. -
Using football phrases to talk about baseball. Tsk, tsk, wildcard.

TT: Scott used increased spin rate to dominate last year
Moose Milligan replied to Tony-OH's topic in Orioles Talk
I remember going to an ALCS game 2 at at OPACY against the Royals in 2014 and thinking...**** we aren't going to score here after the 6th inning. I don't want to speak for @DrungoHazewood when he says anonymous arms throwing 98, but to me that statement means that there are a bunch of guys that throw 98 now. 30 years ago, it wasn't common and you definitely knew all the guys that could hit 98+...anyone hitting 100, it was an event, it was on SportsCenter. Now it's like any team can bring in a guy that can hit triple digits, it's not rare like it used to be. IMO, that's how I read into that statement. It doesn't mean that those guys throwing 98+ are any good, though. Just means there are a lot of guys right now that can do it. -

Here's hoping that this is the start of the organization being able to tease better spin rates out of pitchers and getting better performances. Small sample size for 2020 for Tanner Scott but at least it's a trend in the right direction. -
Meoli: Baumann looks good throwing live BP

Wishful thinking, I suppose. -

We'll see what Hyde is saying when Baumann has a 5+ ERA in July. Everyone looks good in spring training. -
If he's ready, he's ready. I don't see the need to make a thread about this. I'm sure we'll see him in Baltimore at some point this season.

Should Adley Rutschman play in the majors in 2021?
Moose Milligan replied to Frobby's topic in Orioles Talk
I'd like to see him in Baltimore this summer but I get the increasing feeling that he won't and this will be one of the OH dead horses to be beaten in 2021. The feeling is based on nothing other than it would be par for the course for the Orioles to be disappointing. The dead horse beating is based on lots of experience. -
