  1. Good news. Now keep Ruiz and get rid of Davis.
  2. ST stats mean practically nothing. But I do put some stock into how the defense is playing...ie, sloppy play, mistakes, etc.
  3. I've never seen so much anticipation for such an average player.
  4. Of course what made them a first round pick in the first place is what gets them more chances.
  5. If you don't think draft status has something to do with how many chances a player gets, you're crazy. Maybe not back in 2010, but someone who was drafted high in in recent years? Yeah, they get more opportunities to show they can't play.
  6. Interesting, how come? It was the opposite for me. Harvey still has some velocity while Hernandez doesn't.
  7. We'd never do that. C'mon, get it together SG.
  8. Eh, sometimes these things take a few days. I wouldn't be reading too far into how long it's taking. I'm assuming he's been working out on his own and won't need that much time to ramp up. He should be the OD 3rd base starter.
  9. I dunno man, if you're drunk on prom night and it's getting late you're not exactly going to be picky with who you're going home with.
  10. Maybe...just MAYBE...this is a sign that Davis is done. I know it's wishful thinking. But after all of Davis' bluster about how he worked this offseason and the changes, whatever, he comes to ST and can't make it past 72 hours without getting hurt. I mean c'mon. That might be the straw that broke the camel's back and they're just figuring out a way to get 3rd base locked down and keep Ruiz on the roster. Maybe...just maybe they're going to release Davis and eat the rest of the contract before Opening Day. It seems like for whatever reason that they like Rio Ruiz. I don't see how they have Franco, Ruiz and Davis when Davis comes back...if Davis comes back. And I don't see how you keep Franco/Ruiz, two guys that have some small amount of upside over the Guiness Book of World Records holder of the biggest albatross ever. That's most likely not what's going to happen but a guy can dream.
  11. It's a slight upgrade. And Maikel Franco was a good prospect for the Phillies a few years ago, maybe Elias thinks there's some better performance he can tease out of him. It's not a huge upgrade over Ruiz but it's an upgrade.
  12. Would rather see Zimmermann get a rotation spot before Felix or Harvey.
  13. Paging service time manipulation expert @Can_of_corn to the thread.
  14. I'm encouraged by Mullins dropping the switch hitting and hitting like he is so far. The fact that he doesn't walk is still bothersome but I don't think he was ever going to be a guy that could post a high OBP. If he can hit lefties from the left side, he could be a good piece for us.
  15. Franco can provide some decent offense. He adds some pop to the lineup. I'm not mad at it. I hope it gets done.
  16. Getting back to the subject here, I'd also drive Sisco or Severino to the airport if we could get something decent back from the Yankees. I've been particularly hard on him in this thread, but AR needs to be up this summer at some point (yes, CoC, after they've manipulated his service clock) which would make Sisco or Severino expendable. Ooooh, what I'd give to see Severino in a Yankees uniform in the postseason and giving up a passed ball in a key moment. The thought of that makes me giddy!
  17. Yep. And not even if King Felix and Harvey have surprise years...if they spend any significant time in Baltimore, it's probably a sign that our youngsters aren't doing well. It'd be cool if either one of those guys could turn it around but if they're getting the opportunity to do so, IMO it's not a good sign for our future talent.
  18. This year hinges around what guys we've identified as future pieces are doing in the big leagues (Kremer, Akin, Mountcastle, Hays) and in the minors (AR, Diaz, Henderson, Rodriguez, Hall, etc). I'm not so worried about wins and losses as I am seeing those guys contribute positively and getting better as the season goes on. I'm expecting a significantly better team in 2022 and another big leap in 2023. Of course it's hard to say what this will look like in 2 years but you can make some assumptions. But yeah, Elias is gonna have some 'splainin to do here if it's not really coming together in 2022, IMO.
  19. It was going to be awful all along. No surprises here.
  20. Ah, one of those meaningful spring training at bats. Let's start creating his plaque in Cooperstown. I was half kidding when I said Kjerstad was a bust. I did say he's off to a pretty bad start here. Anyone want to quibble with that?
  21. That's the thing I appreciate about you, SG. You're cold blooded. You'd trade your own mother if it meant building a winning team. I'm glad I'm not the only one around here who recognizes the attachment factor.
  22. And if I were concerned about security I'd use a different email account than my primary one.
