  1. Spin rate!?!?!? Depth on his slider/curve? Do they have nice shape????????
  2. Looks like the Orix Buffaloes could pick up a lot of fans in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States.
  3. I remember now, they save the worst for last. Can't wait to hear all the hand wringing about how we're going to keep a player who had a great season 4 years ago in AA on the roster all year. It's gonna be awesome. Carry on.
  4. For you Rule 5 dorks, what day is this clown show this week? Remind me not to log in for at least 24-48 hours afterwards.
  5. wildcard is off to a riproaring start. Who's next, Brook Fordyce?
  6. There's something weird about the stank on 70s and 80s ballplayers that a lot of them aren't getting in. I know they're being judged by modern day writers that are smitten with OBP and advanced stats but Dale Murphy, Steve Garvey, Whitaker and some others were considered HoFers when they were playing.
  7. I've invited you many times to come out to lunch, let me know when you come down off your high horse.
  8. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28255797/union-executive-marvin-miller-catcher-ted-simmons-elected-baseball-hall-fame Miller should have been in years ago. Can't tell the history of baseball without mentioning him. Not getting in while he was alive was a travesty. Don't know much about Simmons but he seems to be one of the premier catchers of his day.
  9. I'm not interested until they turn into Means. And then I'll pretend I was interested all along.
  10. No, it's not that. It''s the notion that people (wildcard) seem to bank on the idea that it's a recipe for success. And he ignored the point (as usual) that it's a low hit rate. My initial point is that for every Means you get, there are 8-10 other types that just don't work out. Our pitching was historically terrible for a reason last year. The idea that Elias and Sig are going to conjure up more Means types this year is silly. I agree that if Means can maintain what he did last year and they an coax another Means type performance out of some quad-A/filler type, that's a step in the right direction. However to think that it'll happen for sure is foolish. I think Elias and Sig would be the first to admit that. They can find some guys that have positive attributes that they might be able to work with but I think that's all they'd tell you.
  11. Nope. But let's be real, Means is the exception to what we've usually got. I mean, c'mon, you've got Means who was a pleasant surprise and then you've got: Hess Yefry Ynoa Brooks Eshelman Wojo Araujo Straily Karns And I'm not including the always injured/always disappointing Cobb because I'm in the Christmas spirit and feeling generous here. The chances of someone stepping up and delivering a Means performance is minimal and I believe you're aware of that.
  12. I don't care. I only really care how the staff looks in 2021 and after. Who the Orioles have on the mound for 2020 is inconsequential when it comes to considering pitchers who aren't being looked at as possible pieces of the future. Quad A types, Rule 5ers, retreads, I'm not interested.
  13. Perhaps no finer sentence in the English language has ever been crafted. This is gold.
  14. This all assumes that quality was a choice. I think the notion that GM's get to pick more players over a smaller amount of better ones in trades is the stuff of baseball fan message board fantasy land.
  15. I wouldn't hate this move. I'm assuming that makes Richie Martin go back to Bowie or Norfolk or makes him the utility infielder. A good defensive shortstop is needed. If he's a better defender than Martin well, we've upgraded.
  16. Clearly an OHer is writing for espn.com
  17. Is the Jose Igelsias crowd ok with this poor man's version?
  18. Safe bet that if any thread here makes it this long, it's way off topic. I'm surprised that we're not talking about Jeffery Maier in here, actually.
  19. Someone check to see if @wildcard is looking at flight information to Japan to go see his beloved pitch next year.
