I'm assuming this Luis Ortiz can't be as fat and unimpressive as the one we already have. That'd be pretty hard to pull off. Unimpressive? Probably, a lot of these guys are never going to make it. But add in the fat factor to being a bad pitcher and it's just WAY more unimpressive. So he might be just as bad (or worse) as a pitcher, but not as fat. Therefore, not as bad.

Eshelman up/Acquire Asher Wojciechowski from CLE

Someone bad. -
I don't think so. I think he rides out the season. I mean, this would be a logical place for them to cut bait but at the same time he's made it this far and showing no signs of improvement. It would be a fairly noticeable story if they cut him outside of the ASB. There'd be some media attention. With the focus on the ASG it might take away some of the press that would otherwise cover it. I'd say there's a 60% chance it happens during the ASB.

Signing 30 guys on July 2nd, the #1 pick in Rutschman, a late first round talent in Henderson...our system should look very different. Thank goodness. I know a lot of these J2 guys are going to be far from the majors but at least we're headed in the right direction. Maybe we can uncover a fast riser or two.

I guess I remembered it wrong. For some reason I thought he'd thrown more innings that year and looked fatigued. That trade worked out pretty damn well for the Cubs, I'd say.

It was obvious to me at the time, the dude was tired. We rode him pretty hard and he threw more innings that year than he'd ever had before. I was pissed that they gave up on him that quickly.

Oh, and speaking of a good former reliever of ours: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/pedro-strop-on-yasiel-puig-after-benches-clear-in-cubs-reds-its-no-secret-hes-stupid/ Yes, Pedro...it's not a secret.

Hader is incredible. I watched him the other day get six outs to seal a win for them. I think that every teams fans sit around and think that ONLY their team is the ONLY TEAM EVER to give up on players to have them go on to find greatness somewhere else. I'm sure if you talked to a fan of the San Francisco Giants he'd tell you all about the litany of players that have been let go/traded from there to find success elsewhere. But man, the Orioles have certainly had their share of doozies over the past few years. Off the top of my head I can think of: A 50 homer guy A Cy Young award winner Best reliever in the game A 17 game winner A consistent .850+ OPS 3rd baseman cornerstone of a consistent World Series contender I know I'm forgetting others but...man, the Orioles have let go of some good ones.

I'm always joking.

Maybe Sisco makes us forget about Rutschman.

Cop out. I want to know who the top guys are so I can be irate when we don't sign them.

Does he crack a 2020 Orioles prospect list?

Can Means become the Orioles’ version of Kuechel?

If the starters could do that every time we would be pretty damn good. -
An end to end pasting of the Indians. Nice to see.

5ks, 1BB, 1 hit. Not totally efficient with the pitches tonight but whatever. Coming back off a 10 day stint on the DL, that's pretty damn good. -
Law would be hard pressed not to find a pitcher that doesn't end up hurt at some point. The ones that don't are few and far between. I think if we learned anything from Arrieta, it was that we should have just left him alone with the way he threw. Maybe Gray-Rod has some oddities but as long as he's doing well I'd just leave him alone.
