  1. I think LeMahieu runs away with this thing. But it'd still be awesome if Hanser finishes in the top 3-5. Arguably, the biggest surprise of the season. And no one cares because of no power, low OBP. But count me in as someone who thinks batting average is still fun.
  2. I'm voting for the opposite of whatever @DrungoHazewood says.
  3. It would be really something if he could get to 20 for the season.
  4. Cashner is doing great things for the Sox.
  5. Let's see if he coughs up a few bucks for the right to complain some more.
  6. Davis Cites Message Board As Retirement Reason The Athletic August 13th, 2019 9:40 AM Ken Rosenthal NEW YORK, NY - First baseman, Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles has announced his retirement this morning. Davis, the much maligned slugger of the Orioles signed a seven year, $161 million dollar contract as a free agent to stay with the Orioles before the 2016 season. Davis lead the league in home runs in 2013 and 2015 but since signing the deal his skills have eroded and has been a point of contention for Orioles fans. When reached early this morning for comment, Davis was clearly emotional about the decision he made after the Orioles were swept in a doubleheader yesterday by the division leading New York Yankees. "I know my performance hasn't been great, I know that I've been struggling. But what really pushed me into this decision was that I was up late on my laptop and looking at OriolesHangout.com and there was this post made by this guy, Ace King. And he was asking me to retire. And at that moment, I just knew what I had to do. It all of a sudden became very clear to me. He was right, I just needed to retire. So that's what really factored into my decision last night." Davis' retirement is effective immediately, General Manager Mike Elias confirmed. Trey Mancini will be taking over first base duties for the rest of the season and the Orioles will look to make a roster move later on today.
  7. I really like this team. Record might be similar to last years team, the 2019 version will probably end up winning a few more games. Detroit probably gets the #1 pick. But this team is infinitely more fun.
  8. While I'm inclined to agree with one-L Philip's hot take, you are correct. There are no clear cut better options. At the same time, I feel that I've seen enough of these guys to know that...I don't need to see any more of them. And that if we are going to keep searching for a diamond in the rough like Armstrong could be...well, let's keep searching.
  9. Ah yup, you sure did. My bad. I agree, he's the only one that I'd heard of before this season.
  10. Yep, very happy for him. Just didn't think he'd amount to much but very happy that he's playing well for a team that's fought back into the playoff hunt.
  11. Well I only thought that the only reason anyone paid any attention to him was because of his last name. I think that's the only reason anyone here was so adamant about giving him a shot.
  12. Posnanski is always talking/whining about how the Yankees get guys like this and have them perform out of their minds. You also forgot Maybin, who, as Posnanski wrote the other day, is finally performing like the Ken Griffey Jr. he was hyped as being 12 years later.
  13. I was wrong about Little Yaz. Good on him.
  14. I'm saying...the rep system is just kinda silly to begin with. I'm not criticizing anyone when I say that, btw. I should clarify that...the fact that people CARE about rep (positive and negative) is silly. Relax man.
  15. Grown adults (I'm assuming) complaining about rep on a message board. You gotta be kidding me.
  16. It's like that anywhere. I mean, where'd all the fans come from to sell out OPACY during the playoff runs this decade? New York is New York. It's one of the most popular cities in the entire world. It's not a coincidence that the baseball team is extremely popular and has bandwagon fans.
  17. Yeah @Can_of_corn you post some straight garbage dude! At least I've got the nerve to actually tag you when I say it! Downvoting on message board is a joke, bro! Need all the rep points a guy can get around here. Hard out here for a pimp.
  18. I honestly don't. I mean, I do because they're the Yankees but I don't really mind this version of them. I find their players likable. This isn't the A-Rod/Clemens version. I loathe Boston. I'd rather have the Yankees being good any day of the week over Boston.
  19. Bummer. Beckham was a favorite bad Oriole of mine.
  20. You're right but I don't care. He's fun. Yes, it's a hollow batting average but hollow batting averages can be fun. He's been a pleasant surprise. Didn't think anyone on this team would be in the top 10 in batting average this late into the season.
  21. It's absurd that he can't qualify for the ERA race but still leads in strikeouts. That's awesome.
  22. O's told him to go over there and tank and we'd sign him back and give him more money
  23. I'm not mad at it! Go Cashner!!
