  1. Stevenson is the better option, but no way do they leave him off the roster.
  2. The Yankees were better at bringing in pitchers with domestic violence issues than the Astros and Osuna, but they still couldn’t get past them.
  3. How much do you think they offer Cole this offseason? I bet they wish they gave Corbin that extra year.
  4. Probably not. Most, if not all, of those guys are dead. They sure as hell are not in a position to throw games today.
  5. Cut the cord. But then stagger your free trials of Sling and YouTube tv to watch the playoffs before the World Series. Or pay one month of sling for $25
  6. Why was the new stadium built in NJ if the city is doing well?
  7. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But think about how much better off the team would have been if they traded away Rendon and Scherzer in June.
  8. Corbin was dealing last night. He got squeezed in the fourth. Martinez and Molina were the only ones that had really good swings. He made Goldschmidt look like Chris Davis. I’d set it up as Scherzer, Sanchez, Strasburg, Corbin. — so Strasburg is there for game 7. Corbin can be a Loogy in games 1, 2, 6, or 7. Scherzer could also give an inning in game 7.
  9. Loooonnnng first inning for Severino, but he escapes with 1 run on 36 pitches.
  10. Could get dicey if Houston knocks out Severino early.
  11. Different stadium. Different effect.
  12. The shadows really affected game 2 of the Nationals/Cardinals game. That’s an extremely tough situation to hit in.
  13. They remind me a little of the early 90s Braves. They have some really exciting young talent and you know they have the ability to spend.
  14. People like to point to high first round picks - Strasburg, Rendon, and Harper as reasons why the Nationals are good. But they also had big successes with international FAs -Soto, Robles, Suero. They’ve kept the homegrown star- Zimmerman instead of letting him walk like Markakis. He doesn’t live up to his contract, but that doesn’t prevent them from going after 9 figure free agents like Corbin. They make trades on both sides of the equation—pitching prospects for Eaton, Souza for Turner, and they swap a late arbitration number 4 starter for Sanchez and move Roark for a young BP arm who got two big outs last night. They lose trade after trade on relievers, but don’t quit trying and end up with Doolittle and Hudson. They match youth with “old” FAs on short deals-Adams, Kendrick, and Dozier. Rizzo uses all avenues to acquire talent to make his team better. His moves don’t always work out, but it doesn’t discourage him from trying them again to get better results. They’ve also stayed competitive with guys entering FAs and don’t panic about trading them early. They let them walk, collect the pick, and replace them.
  15. Exactly. Maybe the orioles can get Matt Harvey and Kris Medlen as they are tough guys and Strasburg is a porcelain doll.
  16. What’s the narrative if Roberts doesn’t send him back out there in the eighth? It’d be two times in three years that he came out of the bullpen in an elimination game to preserve a series.
  17. I can’t believe they didn’t bring in the loogy to face Soto.
  18. If Villar is nontendered, any chance he gets a deal with a $10M AAV? I have a hard time believing that.
  19. Was this just posted? I was looking for this last night when discussing Mancini. That does seem high. I was thinking around 4 or less based on 2018 guys. If he’s expected to get that much in arbitration, it’s going to be hard to extend him to a team-friendly deal, IMO.
  20. His backwards tumble on the Young double is one of favorite Orioles memories.
  21. So what would be the framework of your proposed deal? I’ll play the role of Mancini.
  22. Your scenario would be giving up more than $20M because he’d get paid arbitration salaries in the first three years, right?
  23. Walk me through why extending Mancini would be a good idea and why he wouldn’t go through the arbitration process.
  24. O’Day has pitched in three playoff games for the Braves.
  25. I voted Betts. I’d like to see what he can do in CF if he gets traded. If I had to pick a SP, I’d go with Cole. Robles and Bichette are two guys that I think will be in the discussion over the next five years. Robles had a 4.1 rWAR compared to Harper’s 4.2. His defense in CF Will pad his total while he learns to hit at the MLB level.
