  1. They've clearly given up on him and are tanking to get him fired.
  2. Good at bats, something we haven't seen much of in a month. The HRs will come if you stop trying to hit them, I love the approach.
  3. Oh damn, Gunnar ripped the stache off. Good things inbound.
  4. I'd like to see Gunnar drive the ball. He's been rolling over groundballs a lot.
  5. We've had a few of them this month alone it feels like.
  6. Everyone should be allowed to have their own opinion, but I'd like to point out you are making statements as if they are true. As if you are in the locker room and you are telling us what is going on. You aren't saying "I think" or "I believe", you are saying these things are actually happening.
  7. I don't think I suggested it was outstanding. It's the deadline thread and it was a move.
  8. I think there is almost no chance that happens. I hope they keep Mayo, I'd rather trade Kjerstad than Cowser personally, although I like them both, but Mayo should be untouchable in my eyes.
  9. We can't keep them all, Roy. We can't get better and keep Norby, Westburg, Kjerstad, Cowser, Mayo, Basallo and Holliday and I know you don't want to trade any of them. We aren't getting needle movers for Mullins or Urias.
  10. This has devolved. I post a random quote in another thread not in reply to anyone in particular and get told I'm abusive....
  11. This crossed my mind too. Maybe they wanted more stress on the arm to make sure he's good to go before he comes up. Like you said, you never know.
  12. He's started 10 games at SS and played 14 there. Maybe Vavra was dinged up, they had him DH tonight.
  13. Bases loaded 1 out for the Yankees. I hope they win to push Boston back and keep this a 2 team race for the most part.
  14. 28 at the time of the trade, the following year he was 3.
  15. Right, I get that, but my question is if a guy is averaging an OPS+ of 150+ through his 20's and early 30's and then has an OPS+ of 120 at 35 that wouldn't seem too shocking. He's a superior talent and as he gets older his 75% is still better than the average players 100%. I'm not talking about the huge spikes in 98 and 99, the balls had to have been juiced to hell in those years.
  16. So how are we to determine the effects of steroids on players that are HoF players? If steroids were a panacea, guys like Jay Gibbons should have been worth more than 5 WAR for his career.
  17. That's a good question that I can't answer. I'd follow it up with what is the aging curve of HoF players because most of the standouts from the steroid era would have been HoF players without them most likely. So maybe it's a case of Bonds would have aged better than most people because he was a far superior talent to most people?
  18. It's almost like it's the first time some of them have never seen an O's team not do well. I'm old enough to have suffered through decades of it.
  19. Guys stopped hitting. There is nothing the manager or hitting coaches can do to fix that. If guys are pressing they need to figure it out, giving them chai tea and calling in a Guru to lead them on a guided meditation is likely not going to work. This is a really young team, a lot of rookies and our better players are in their 2nd and 3rd years. Did we expect no growing pains? Every team that is leading their divisions has been playing badly lately, it happens, often for prolonged stretches, do I believe they will come out of this? Yes, I do. Do I think that Hyde or any person has the ability to scream, or will them to snap out of it? No, I absolutely don't.
  20. I'm a police officer, and I will not let my bosses yell at me, he will express his concerns respectfully or he will get it back every bit as good as he gives it and he can put me up if he wants. I don't cry, but I'm not submissive and I'm not going let another man disrespect me, it's fine that you let people yell at you and don't cry. I give it back when it's deserved.
  21. I'm not sure about you, but being a grown man, if my boss yelled at me, I'm probably not going to give him my best foot forward, because I'm a grown man and I demand the respect that anyone else would want. So I don't believe Hyde should be yelling at the guys, nor do I think it would help. I don't understand why it's so shocking that guys are struggling and there must be someone to blame. Gunnar stopped hitting, Adley stopped hitting, and O'Hearn stopped hitting in the month of July. It sucks, but the blame rests on their shoulders. This happens to all players, it really sucks that it's happening to all of these guys at the same time.
