  1. I want to be as excited as possible about our prospects, but I also want to be real. Is something else going on in Bowie? Is it the field? Is their league trash? Is it a league with a bunch of hitting environments? What Henderson, Westburg, Cowser, Ortiz and Norby (amongst others) have done for that team this year would give the appearance that we have several elite hitting prospects. Then there's Drew Rom, who's just been pretty good this year. If something is going on in the league, maybe he's actually been better than it seems? So what's the deal? Are we over-rating our own guys based on some extraneous factors? There's enough weird results going on to make me wonder.
  2. Which of our good young players will be resigned in an Angelos-owned team? I think it's mostly a moot point. Who knows what new ownership will do with Boras or whomever his successor is?
  3. Dream scenario for next August? Mayo (1b), Henderson (3b), Mateo (SS, ~.800 OPS), either Westburg or Norby at 2B.
  4. Ortiz could be top 100 in theory at the end of this season, but that'll require like zero drop off from what he's been doing since July. Even then it's a big jump for the rankers to make, even if the O's internally know he's made development that would warrant it. I similarly think Mayo would have a shot, but it's probably just too late no matter what he does. He's a next year guy, IMO.
  5. Henderson is a man child. He's just so damn big and strong.
  6. Yeah, encouraging start but much more to see before drawing conclusions.
  7. Thanks. I’ll want to learn more about this for sure. I get the points about swing path (e.g., launch angle), but hadn’t considered getting to the beginning of that swing past quickly and when the hitter exits that swing past as well.
  8. I think you’re missing the point. The Os want LH hitters, like Henderson, Stowers, Cowser, Mullins, Vavra, Kjerstad and Beavers. I think they created a clear incongruity that they can prepare for while it’s just not worth it for other teams to do so. Basically, a home field advantage that isn’t a disadvantage on the road.
  9. No chance I am if we have a legit playoff opportunity and studs to contribute.
  10. Yeah, I’m assuming Hall comes around and Grayson is throwing and able to be hidden for a while. If I’m Elias, I’m allowing for the possibility of competing in the post season.
  11. Now 45.6% to make the playoffs, 1.3% to win the World Series.
  12. Barring a collapse by the Os or a horrible slump by Henderson, I would be shocked if he’s not up before 9/1. I feel the same about Hall and Stowers. I could see them holding back on Westburg if he doesn’t have to go to the 40 man this off-season. And if contention is real, I bet they find a way to make Gray Rod eligible for the post season roster too.
  13. I’ve seen him stay back on some balls that a simple aggressive approach would have resulted in an out (once) or play that wasn’t nearly as close (a few times). And I don’t get to watch very often.
  14. I suppose I could look this up on YouTube, but I’d love more info on what this means and how to do it. Asking for a rising 7th grader.
  15. Stowers double scores Henderson and Westburg. Has a great ring to it!
  16. Fair point, but he still has a slight build, right?
  17. Don’t mind CoC, he’s clearly smart, but sometimes he picks a fight just to pick it. The best counter point, IMO, is that bad orgs (like the Nats now) are probably more likely to release guys with talent that they just couldn’t unlock than good orgs.
  18. I think the point Elias was making is he was already a pop up prospect this year. I’m not saying he’s Grayson Rodriguez, but seems like a legit SP prospect right now. I agree with your point about holding velo, but I’d wager that comes with 1-2 more top end as well. Even that tick or two can be very helpful.
  19. Just taking a second to note the Ortiz compliments by Tony in this thread. If his bat is for real, watch out.
  20. I feel very confident in Westburg playing the left side. Probably not plus at ss, maybe not 3b, but should be serviceable at each.
  21. Nobody cares. Re: Norby, I suspect he’s a 2b only guy. The bat will have to be great for him to be an answer in Baltimore, but even if it isn’t truly great, he’s a really nice prospect with us or in a trade.
  22. Tony actually has quietly move Estrada up in his power rankings. Kid really seems to be a good hitter. My guess is he really starts to become better known toward the end of this year and in the off-season power rankings. He, Basallo and Benscosme all seem like bats to really watch.
  23. Henderson (3b), Westburg (2b) and Stowers (of/dh) should be promoted. My guess is it’ll happen with ~ 44 days left in the season.
  24. Kind of stinks to have a catcher who can frame like that when they’re about to go to an electronic k zone. Might mean his peak value will be next year.
