  1. Elias with one of the most out of the box moves any GM has ever made, and it's based on math. He's not a normal GM. It's time to give him his due. Even his waiting on promotions now is because he's thinking beyond the now. It's definitely arguable, but I respect his long term approach. 10 good years are coming if he sticks around.
  2. I'd love some insight into how the O's are handling the DSL kids. Are they putting them through the same hitting and throwing programs that our recent draftees are getting in the FCL, Low A and High A? If so, they may move quickly once they graduate from those programs. I have no idea.
  3. If the O's are still ~1 game back of the wild card come 8/23, I think it would be a dereliction of duty not to promote Henderson, Stowers and Hall. Maybe even Westburg. It may already be that bad, though I suspect some mathematical model puts the difference in probabilities at like 1%, but if it's the case on 8/23, I'll be infuriated if they do not.
  4. Scouting assessments aside, the biggest problem with Santander is the cheap quality depth behind him. Thats true for Mountcastle too though, it’s just less obvious, but 1b is a fall back position that can be used to help make room for cheap hitters who get on base. I think there’s a really good chance that all of Hays, Santander and Mountcastle aren’t going to be in Baltimore for 2024.
  5. This system is under rated in the 15-30 range, IMO. International guys will start to fill it in even more.
  6. Oh, he’s had a great year playing in a pitching environment. That’s for sure. I really like him.
  7. I don’t know where the rants page is. Could you post a link?
  8. Don’t you think there are a lot of people talking about Hernaiz? I’m not rating Rhodes higher, I just think he’s more under the radar.
  9. It doesn’t seem to me that we do a ton of in-season movement from DSL to the states. At this point I’d doubt it unless the Os want to start bringing guys to fall instructs in the states.
  10. Can’t wait for Tony’s write-up on this kid after the season.
  11. The tea leaves, which includes Odor at 3rd and Santander at first seem like 1-2 from AAA will be promoted. Then it seems like AA backfills AAA, etc.
  12. Yeah. I like him, but feel like a lot of us do. Rhodes reminds me of Stowers before last year. An afterthought to a lot of us, but he has good tools.
  13. Still a dark horse, and not an elite prospect in my eyes, but potentially a very good one.
  14. It just doesn't add up to me. I'm not saying our prospects aren't good prospects, but the results in Bowie are almost absurd.
  15. He was up and down, but who has been better at Aberdeen? Cowser?
  16. Yes. I'd sign long term to see through the complete building of an organization from trash to top levels in baseball, and I'd like some assurance that I have a contract regardless of the ownership situation.
  17. I think Rhodes has a chance to be the most under rated prospect among OH posters.
  18. If I were Elias I'd be promising the Angels or some other team with big problems and an owner with big money that he can do for them what he's done for Baltimore, only faster because they have money. The O's should be extending him now, at whatever it costs (within actual reality).
  19. He'll pay when it's pragmatic. Not when it's "necessary" or when we want to. Some guys will be let go. Some will be traded. The lifeblood of this org will be drafting and development. That is why Angelos' #1 priority should be a long extension for Elias.
  20. Here's the thread, for those who aren't familiar with the minors section.
  21. The Nats complete inability to build a farm system or develop guys they trade for might have something to do with that too. If they're not acquired already developed, they suck for the Nats.
