  1. I'd go to more games if they started earlier. 7:05 is a rough start time for me, because I'm up at 5:30 every morning, and work a 10-12 hour shift.
  2. Who specifically should the Orioles acquire during this offseason? What price should they pay? Instead of the low-effort 'O's need to spend' post, it would be more constructive to talk about how they should allocate their resources.
  3. And he's on the same page with Elias and Co. The managers throughout the system have been excellent at executing the Front Office vision.
  4. Glad the O's got the best of Britton. He was an absolute stud in the 2014 Division Championship season.
  5. It's his job to lose. He's gotten the Orioles through some really rough years with minimal talent. He's been working very well with an under-talented 2022 squad. I can't imagine they replace him anytime soon.
  6. If I didn't have an infant at home, I'd be all over this. Great way to fill the seats on a potential playoff run.
  7. Is Pete Rose going to be reinstated with a full apology and given a fast-track to the HOF now?
  8. If he can stay healthy, I agree. He could be a 10-20 HR guy with great OBP. That plays well in the 2 hole.
  9. Even if this is the high water mark, I could not be more proud of this team. The future is pretty damn bright. Hopefully this offseason involves going after a big name veteran starting pitcher to anchor things.
  10. I'll take it. More teams vying for the playoffs is better for baseball. Big market teams can still assemble an elite roster, but anything can happen in a short series.
  11. They may be trying to avoid injury with Vavra.
  12. Goodbye 2022 Cinderella run. Hello middling relievers.
  13. I would not mind the Orioles trying to bolster the MLB roster to try and sneak into the playoffs. But, there's really no reason to dig deep into the prospect pool to make it happen. It will be interesting to see what kind of help Matt Harvey can give to the rotation once he is recalled.
  14. Why would he? He can clearly make more than 6 million/year
  15. I say strike him out, or induce a groundout.
  16. Still the greatest night of my Orioles fandom. Joe had a brutal track record pitching in Arlington. He goes out, gets it done. O's win. What a game.
  17. Is there a Bud Norris type out there (ok starting pitcher having a decent year on a crappy club) that wouldn't cost a ton? Or a Joe Saunders type? It can't derail the rebuild, but reinforcing this club could be the right move, especially if some more callups happen (Westburg, Vavra, etc). The O's can hang this year. A chance to make the playoffs shouldn't be ignored.
  18. Vavra would be a great option if he wasn't so fragile.
  19. No, because most of us here think Nestor is a clown. (Or at least did at the time, maybe things have changed in 16 years).
  20. 1. Yes. 2. No. Regardless of where he chose to seek employment afterwards, nobody can deny his greatness in Baltimore.
  21. Didn't he want to go in with a Devil Rays cap?
  22. It's really hard to predict the roster for 2 seasons from now. I don't think Vavra stays healthy enough to make a meaningful impact in Baltimore, but I hope I'm wrong. Cowser, Henderson, Stowers will probably be a part of it. Hays, Rutsch, Mountcastle will probably be a part of it, too. But, who knows: other guys may step up, some prospects may flame out. Trades happen. Free agents can be signed. So many variables. I think the Orioles will be in a position to contend in 2024, I just don't know how the roster will look at this juncture.
  23. Easily one of the worst things that the Orioles ever did. If the O's kept Murray, The 1989 squad would have probably made the playoffs. The O's would not have traded for Glenn Davis. The Orioles of the 90's would have had Pete Harnisch, Curt Schilling, and Mike Mussina heading into the '92-'97 stretch, which would have been a damn good rotation. Having an outfield with Steve Finley alongside Brady Anderson would have been icing on the cake. I can definitely see one of those Orioles squads winning the World Series. Trading Murray was easily one of the stupidest moves, which led to a cascade of stupider moves and missed opportunities.
