  1. They will be in the hunt unless every starting pitcher regresses or gets injured.
  2. Adley and Gunnar are the lynchpins. There's an argument that Westburg being close could soften the loss of Gunnar to injury. Adley is clearly the most important piece.
  3. Yes, but the Red Sox and Yankees fans fill the park. The gate takes for those games are something the O's will absolutely miss.
  4. Grow the bats. Hope that an arm or two grows by chance. Buy/trade for the other arms.
  5. Probably will. GRod can get some strict inning limit starts in AAA for the first couple of months then stretch out for the call-up to Baltimore.
  6. Agreed. The O's shouldn't touch Bauer with a 10 foot pole. Wherever Bauer signs, he's at least lucky that the National League doesn't have pitchers hit anymore. I'm sure there are some players who would love to put that guy in his place with a fastball to the head.
  7. It was Georgia Angelos who told Peter that Miller wasn't 'rah rah' enough. Then, Peter made the call to dismiss Jon Miller. My source is a retired veteran WBAL personality who was very close friends with Jon Miller.
  8. Entire server farms of analytics computers caught on fire after trying to calculate it.
  9. It would have to be a lower base + incentives contract, but it's a reasonable gamble.
  10. Is he still a member of the bar association? If so, then: yes.
  11. I would put him in AAA and keep him starting. If he doesn't stick at SP, then he can come up and contribute out of the pen. With his stuff, it would be foolish to throw in the towel on him being a starting pitcher.
  12. All three. No salary cap in Baseball.
  13. Rodon would be awesome. He'll be expensive, but that's the market. If they offer a shorter term deal to Verlander, that would also be exceptionally cool. Rodon, Verlander, GRod, Kremer, <5th starter until Means is ready to roll> would be a legit rotation. Then, it's just about augmenting the offense.
  14. What, are you a lawyer or something???
  15. Such a great season, even if no playoffs. O's are in a great place going into the offseason: MLB Roster and minors loaded with controllable talent. A low payroll. Cash to spend. This is the offseason to make some splashes and get positioned for a pennant chase in 2023. Let's go O's!
  16. They could also use 101.5 (WBAL-FM) to carry the Orioles. Not sure why they don't... Edit: it's technically not WBAL-FM. It's W268BA-FM
  17. Gausman could have done more with a better system, but looking at whom the Orioles passed on: they should have still gone position-heavy in their drafts.
  18. I remember the draft where the Orioles took Dylan Bundy. Anthony Rendon was sitting right there, and I remember @Sports Guy saying 'They can't be this stupid, can they?' Well, they were. Rendon has over 4x the career WAR of Bundy. Orioles also whiffed when they took Matusz, Hobgood, Sedlock. Gausman was ok, but the O's didn't get his best years. Rodriguez looks to be legit, but he's still yet to pitch an MLB inning, and the book on Hall is unwritten. Pitchers are a crapshoot.
  19. I'd go to more games if they started earlier. 7:05 is a rough start time for me, because I'm up at 5:30 every morning, and work a 10-12 hour shift.
  20. Who specifically should the Orioles acquire during this offseason? What price should they pay? Instead of the low-effort 'O's need to spend' post, it would be more constructive to talk about how they should allocate their resources.
  21. And he's on the same page with Elias and Co. The managers throughout the system have been excellent at executing the Front Office vision.
