not huge but he did have over 100 PA in 2022. Maybe let's at least wait until he crosses that plateau before we freak out?

Roch just tweeted out that Bradish will be activated off the IL and start tonight. Thoughts on who gets sent down?

Well he is striking out 9.2 guys per 9 innings for us so far at the MLB level. I'll take the AAA line by comparison, heh. The really encouraging thing is the walks. His walk rate was crazy elevated with us compared to his track record. Only walking one in 7 is hopefully a good sign.

Santander has played in 453 MLB games so far. Gunnar is in his rookie year. We know more of what we can rationally expect Santander to do over a full year. He hit 33 bombs last year with an OPS close to .800 in basically a full year. Do we really have to preach about small sample sizes every single spring?

Caught this little blurb about Irvin in Roch's entry this morning. If he can do this for 1-2 more starts is that enough to call him back up? Left-hander Cole Irvin made his first start for Triple-A Norfolk since the Orioles optioned him, and he allowed two runs and seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts over seven innings against Rochester. He also hit a batter. Irvin threw 99 pitches, 67 for strikes.

Really hoping it's the latter. We have a solid lineup (so it appears). If we could pitch we might actually be able to do something.

Through 3 starts, he has allowed 11 ER. In 14.1 total innings. 7 of those ER were in the first innings of his starts. So if you take away the first innings we are down to 11.1 innings with 4 ER. 3.18 ERA overall. Obviously still in a zone with an incredibly small sample size and stuff could shift a ton from one start to the next.

I feel pretty confident that Gunnar is going to have his best season yet in MLB.

I'm sure they are treating them like any other pitcher they saw on video before coming here. They saw things, tried to convince them they saw some things they can tinker with, and the pitcher likely agreed to work with them. I don't think i ever implied anything contradictory. I'm hopeful they can improve on their numbers here. We will see.

Elias in particular seems pretty clear that he doesn't give a .......flying fig about spring training stats.

It was pretty empty at that event. I would guess maybe 200 people at the most. That picture seems plausible to me. I'm still very glad I went though!

Whoever asked him about all those infield prospects at AAA sounds a very widely read and intellectual powerhouse of a fan. I bet he was incredibly sharply dressed too and has the most winning smile you can imagine. You know. Just a theory.

Also there was a Trevor Bauer question.....he said he couldn't comment on any FA.

I asked a question about how to make room in the infield for all the highly touted SS in AAA. He gave the standard response about how these things sort themselves out and you can never have too many SS. I tried.

It's their right to do it if they are allowed to. It's the Orioles right to block it if they want to. Everyone is exercising their legal rights. It's a beautiful country indeed!

Maybe they were worried about adult 'entrepreneurs' being the majority of the people coming just trying to make a buck off the autographs.
