  1. Elias likes to make his big prospect promotions on Mondays. So i think from here on out we will be checking those twitter reports with great anticipation every Monday. Stowers should be soon.......and Henderson and Hall could be not far behind.
  2. Super thrilled to see this post and to hear you have reconsidered leaving. I have been a member of this Orioles fandom community for well over a decade, through some very low lows and some truly amazing highs. The amount of information available to uber fans on here is impossible to match, especially with respect to the minors. I have learned so much over the years and have greatly enjoyed my time on here in the community. It would leave an enormous void in my daily routine if this site were to vanish, and indeed..........that time may come. But it is not this day! To quote the heir of Isildur. Thanks so much Tony for all you do. You deserve so much credit and so many accolades for how this community has grown and thrived.
  3. Well the Rays also acquired an OF in the Mancini trade right? Maybe Phillips was kinda the odd man out?
  4. Phillips had a .727 OPS in 2021. So maybe he's not quite as terrible as his current stats suggest. IDK. Seems obvious that we just prioritized having two defensive replacement OF (LHB and RHB) on the same roster.
  5. Have to basically get rid of Santander, Hays, or Mullins to make room for Stowers right? Seems like that isn't going to be easy to do for the remainder of this season.
  6. We need t-shirts made up. 2023: "It's time for lift off."
  7. Odor can't be benched under any circumstances. Guess he has it in his contract. Perks of getting a great agent ???
  8. The Orioles used him the most at 2B in the minors........so clearly they are thinking about it. The position he started at the next most was actually CF. Interesting. He hit .324 at Norfolk so he should be able to make some contact.
  9. My big question is whose roster spot does Phillips get? Seems bizarre to bring Diaz up only to send him back down again.
  10. Rob. To be clear here.....neither you nor I are in the room with Elias and his crew. So we don't know exactly what they knew or didn't know. The one report we DO have from Callis suggested that this issue came up on a "post-draft" physical. So if anything it suggests this was new information that they didn't have on draft day. I think it's a bit strange to assume immediately that Callis's information might be incorrect or something.
  11. Good break down by Ruiz at the Sun. With @GeoffPontesBA and @jimcallisMLB reporting the Orioles signed Carter Young for $1.325m, notes on Nolan McLean: - They can give him $874,050 w/o losing a pick. - If he doesn’t sign, their pool loses his $794K slot. They'd be taxed on $766,600 overage but wouldn't lose a pick.
  12. Sounds like this guy was in consideration to be a 1st round pick before the 2022 college season. Guess Elias really feels like this season was the outlier. Def carries some risk.
  13. Doesn't this completely use up (and likely even exceed) our draft pool for this year?
  14. think it is actually 5 PM Eastern. Oh man. The suspense is terrible. ..... ...... I hope it lasts.
  15. I'm sure you are largely correct here............but also bear in mind Hader has been exactly replacement level this year in bWAR. Maybe MIL thinks he is on his way out. shrug
  16. Thanks Tony. Doesnt this imply that either Stowers or Diaz will now be more of a part time player there?
  17. Just got promoted to Norfolk! Had a .900 OPS at Bowie. Is this guy for real? Seems to be doing insanely well for a 23rd rounder. I see he is on the older side (25).
  18. Wow. I have never heard anyone compare Gunnar's defense at 3rd to Manny Machado before. That is pretty awesome.
  19. Deadline to sign everyone is 5pm Eastern today. Oh mannnnnnn. I guess McLean is the surprise so far. Hopefully they get him in the fold.
  20. Oh no!!! Are you saying our extra year of service time could be in jeopardy?!?!??!
  21. Overall this season the Ironbirds have a .732 team OPS. That is 8th in the league out of 12 teams. So admittedly below average. However they have a .720 at home (8th) and a .745 on the road (6th) so while yes there does seem to be a slight impact it doesn't seem to be super large. Definitely not talking about an inverse Coors effect or anything. More like what the Orioles hitters experience at the MLB level actually with the new wall.
  22. Correct. The Ironbirds are in Asheville this week.
