  1. I used Yahoo. I also already knew. The Yahooing was just to skirt your arbitrary condition. I am wondering why you think a post about him should be in Orioles talk.
  2. They did have an alternative but they traded him away to save a few bucks and get a prospect they could have just drafted themselves if they were as high on them as they say.
  3. Would all depend on if he was willing to change. If he refused you think his coach wouldn't have played him? Just because the majority of baseball is moving in one direction doesn't mean folks that deviate from that have no chance.
  4. He was a seventh round pick. You put up the numbers in HS that he would and someone would take a flyer on you. Scouts would have plenty of film on him. Teams aren't so myopic that they would turn their nose up at a guy with huge OBP numbers just because the power isn't there.
  5. Or maybe they can throw more since they got all that extra rest. Neither statement is supported by any actual data.
  6. I was thinking Belanger. He had a 6.5 rWAR season in which he had an OPS+ of 100.
  7. Not in right field. Could see it for a plus shortstop or catcher.

What did David Ortiz do to him?

I'll give him props for foregoing the last year of his contract. He could have easily just spent the year on the IL or forced the Sox to release him.
  10. I won't even be disappointed if it's a dump. I can't imagine anyone giving up quality for Cobb and he makes no sense on the 2021 team. Hopefully whatever money is saved on his salary will go to some other aspect of the team.
  11. Right but even if they eat it all (and they won't) I don't see them getting a potential difference maker back.
  12. The GM is filling up the rotation so the owner won't go over his head and sign Bauer to a franchise crippling contract.
  13. My guess is that the O's are paying part of his salary and will be getting back a 2019 college arm and a Moose special.
  14. Does this mean the Angels are out on Bauer? Also, nice job dumping that contact.
  15. My mistake in speaking about players in general. But as you said, they don't really have to hit.
  16. Terrible would be more in line with what happened in 2020.
  17. Obviously that changes things. Still not a terrible first offer but yea, players shouldn't agree to it.
  18. I've still never heard of players not wanting to participate in the playoffs. Even if they benefit owners more. I've been following Craig since his shysterball days and I don't see how this "probably hurts" players.
  19. Depends on the player but yea, the union leadership should make more per game in the regular season. But playoff shares is still extra money. The number of guys who would rather go home instead of playing in the playoffs has to be pretty small. I of course agree that players aren't interested in a 5% pay cut.
  20. I think the players would be more in favor of a shorter regular season.
  21. I'm not sure how expanded playoffs hurt the players. I guess for a lot the union leader types the playoff share would be less than regular season pay but it's still extra money. I would think that, in general, players would prefer to make the playoffs over not making the playoffs.
  22. You think he got to pick when he was charged?
