Yea, they know that Davis can't play anymore and he's bringing the rest of the team down because he's owed a lot of money. Maybe they know that they got sent down because Davis is taking up a spot on the 25.
I think having someone in Davis' position around causes potential problems beyond blocking players or using up a roster space. I don't think it sends a positive message to the rest of the team.
I'd have agreed to relatively logical if they had given him to say the all star break. Not the full season and it sounds as if he's expected back next spring.
Maybe they are counting one day in the majors in a given year as a full year? Using that logic Corban Joseph has had a three year MLB career at this point.
