  1. It seems like the Padres are viewing him as a 5-6 win player and not as a 5-6 win player who is going to make over 30M. Not a huge amount of surplus value there.
  2. I don't know if that many people were fixated on him specifically or if we just wanted them to use all the slot money they traded for. He was just what was available,
  3. Remember that game that Palmer only threw fastballs? I imagine the catcher has at best limited input when it comes to pitch calling these days.
  4. The Pirates did not, in fact, stay in the race.
  5. They had me spend hours converting pounds into stone and inches into hands.
  6. Are you denying that the ONLY asset he had was a "stuff" fastball and he managed to turn it into a six year MLB career? It's a testament to baseball's fascination with stuff. You used a poor example, sorry for pointing it out and getting you all upset.
  7. He was also a terrible athlete with one pitch who was rumored to be extremely uncoachable. That he got as far as he did off the back of a fastball is a testament to how powerful "stuff" can be. Lots of really nice guys who try their best never get close to the level he did. His stuff allowed him to fail at the highest level...for six years.
  8. Six year career, 8M in career earnings. That's pretty far in my book. His career ended when his stuff diminished.
  9. Nothing stopping you from flipping him next offseason if you think he has more value in trade than on the field.
  10. Are you judging him based off a small sample size of his posting? You have to look at his posting as a whole, not one individual post.
  11. Let me guess, Tex walked out without picking up the check?
  12. Hader is a local boy, maybe he'll give a hometown discount?
  13. No way the O's could match that type of package.
  14. Can we add the innings from the playoffs?
  15. Sure. It has happened that guys make it back in less than a year.
  16. If they bring in someone like Kimbrel I want better than not bad. The Dodgers left him off their playoff roster. He got demoted this year in the playoffs. I'd rather they go somewhere else.
  17. You are the one that makes posts that require me to state the obvious. Your post was bad and you should feel bad. Everyone here understands the concept of Small Sample Size.
  18. Oh so if you remove the outing in which he gave up runs his ERA is 0.00. Makes sense. He gave up the runs. He had issues in the playoffs in both 2022 and 2023. Those things happened.
  19. Or that he ends up at second base, which fair or not, would lower his numbers.
