  1. Of course I'm aware it's rare, and I didn't suggest that I thought he would get that much. But 5/7/15 isn't generous for a guy drafted 1-1 that is being rated as the top prospect in the game. I thought showing how high arb 1 numbers have historically gone was a good way to show that. Guys have made more in Arb 1 than he's "generously" predicting for arb 2. What I want to know is if the award payments guys like Adley, Bradish and Gunnar are getting are looked at when they get to arbitration.
  2. I'm down with playing this game every year. But I'd also be down with getting an actually elite guy. What I don't want is to get a guy in decline just because he's been a "closer".
  3. Doesn't cost the team anything to declare interest in a player.
  4. Not poor, cheap. I don't care for the lack of flexibility,
  5. Generous? You are aware that multiple players have hit the 10M mark as an Arb 1 right?
  6. Lets get a guy from the KBO that throws a soju ball.
  7. From a total number sure but impact wise? The Bell deal would have been worse, maybe stuff like the Ubaldo and even the Cobb deal? 40 Million under over 8-9 years just doesn't hit as hard to me as giving up a draft pick and giving Cobb ~50M for three years of 1.5WAR.
  8. I did a quick google search for Bryan Woo linked to Orioles and the Hangout was the top result.
  9. Also Naoyuki Uwasawa but he'd be a terrible idea.
  10. Which is a separate issue. Honestly being 40M under water on one of these deals is far from crippling. Where would that deal fall in the list of bad Oriole contracts? Top 5?
  11. Huh? In what reality did Matt Wieters BOMB? He had a very nice career.
  12. I also think he's smart enough to have an exit strategy.
  13. Where did you see that? I remember seeing this SI piece: https://www.si.com/mlb/giants/history/sf-giants-aggressively-pursued-mike-elias Staffing decisions is something far different than all personal decisions.
  14. Not disagreeing with the overall sentiment but Elias probably could have offered better prospects in return for lowering the monetary cost of Montgomery.
  15. I agree that Elias is confident he can do it. That doesn't guarantee he actually can but I'm sure he's confident in his capabilities. He might also have an exit strategy in place for when that time comes.
  16. First off, healthy all year. Secondly you, as a singular individual, do not qualify as "folks". I'd say Gibson slightly exceeded my expectations. He was a nice stabilizing force in the rotation that gave the team a good number of pretty functional innings.
  17. Dad's career earnings were 158,917,101. I say we offer 10/158,917,102.
  18. I'm voting for Warlock. I want at least one infernal pact on the 2024 team and there is no guarantee O'Hearn will be back.
  19. Folks had really low expectations? I wasn't expecting 192 innings.
  20. He's got money and name recognition. He's also getting publicity for taking on the pharmaceutical industry. (to be honest not sure how that's been going)
  21. I'm pretty sure it's their anti-Lego bias showing. I'm just shocked it didn't pull down Gunnar's numbers more.
  22. I think it's more likely Cuban will be one of the politicans within the next five years. He also left Shark Tank.
  23. Not hard to find one this off-season just look west.
