I don't think he needs conditioning, he just needs experience in going deeper into games. I certainly don't think he's not in shape.

I'm just shocked he gets a free pass from Hyde when he was clearly loafing and making no attempt at all to get down the line and beat that out for a hit.

The question is do you put him on the IL and lose him for 15 days or just force Hyde to show some restraint and curtail his usage over the next week or so? Sure every game is important but you have to see that right now he's not the best option out there in the eighth. Give him some two days off one day on appearances over the next week to ten days and see how he looks.

No one is saying he wasn't great last season. He hasn't been playing at that level this season.

His overall OPS matters because he doesn't simply play second base, he's got five games in the outfield and he's logged some time at DH.
