  1. I was including advertising and Merch sales. Someone found an Angels quote saying he's worth an extra 20M so he pays for 2/3 of his salary maybe? Maybe I'm wrong since I'd never buy a jersey but I think they'd move a ton of Oriole Ohtani jerseys in two months. Also for attendance, if his presence leads to more home playoff games that would be a nice bump to revenue.
  2. Hall hit 94.4 in one inning of work in the FCL. That's still down ~2 MPH from last season in the majors. I wouldn't give up much for him right now.
  3. Which is why most of us don't think he's going to be traded.
  4. That isn't what it's trying to say. It's that, over the course of a season, teams that outscore their opponents tend to win more games, and the greater the difference in scoring, the greater the difference in record. In general it's an accurate premise. That doesn't mean it works with every specific case.
  5. Of course you can, with the benefit of hindsight, come up with trades that were terrible for one side or another. As for what it would take to get it done? I think the Angels owner is going to get involved and he's going to demand an unreasonable return (and that Ohtani won't get traded). I'm guessing Grayson (you need a headlining pitcher), Kjerstad, Westburg (position player in the majors) and a younger arm like Pinto. Now if those guys hit big might they get you to 200M in value? Sure, but they aren't projected to. Disclaimer: I'm crap at fake trades.
  6. You're the one that brought up Machado. I have issue with the hundreds of millions of future value. That's roughly 5 level 55 prospects. Going by the Fangraph list from February we have: Grayson and Mayo at 55. Hall and Ortiz at 50. Kjerstad at 45+ Switch Cowser (45) out for Hall. So that's Grayson, Mayo, Ortiz, Kjerstad and Cowser. That's a group that was *roughly* estimated to give close to the type of value you are suggesting. You don't think it would take that much to get a deal done right?
  7. So one out of the five. Depending on who you ask.
  8. Did the O's get even one level 55 prospect for Machado? (at the time of the trade)
  9. I'm sure that an educated and rational fanbase such as the one we have here would have understood that it's a process and been the epitome of patience.
  10. Keep him out of games until his velocity returns or they run out of season.
  11. I think that if he was still sitting 92-93 they wouldn't have put him into a game.
  12. By Rangers I mean if he's traded. I think he won't be as the owner will get involved.
  13. Attendance, merchandising, and advertising. 12M really isn't a ton. Maybe MASN could get some new commercials!
  14. I think it's funny you cite fiscally irresponsible teams. I think Ohtani will likely pay for himself in increased revenue for the club that trades for him. He's owed 12M or so? I also think it's the Rangers.
  15. I think Bednar is going to cost a lot.
  16. Hundreds of millions? Who the heck are you sending over? A 55 ranked prospect is worth what, 42M? Are you sending them five of them?
  17. To some it is and to some it isn't. My guess it won't be for Elias. I think adding him makes the O's the favorite to get to the WS from the AL. (Would be pretty sweet if they could avoid the Astros since they've done very well against Ohtani)
  18. Let's say two games. Two games could easily be the difference in a division title instead of a wild card, or home field advantage in the wild card round (all three games). I know I'd much rather the O's play three at home over three at the Trop for instance. There is potential value in even incremental improvement.
  19. Nice. Would have been really neato if it included his velocity.
  20. Best record in the AL over the last 50 games.
