  1. Don't forget the fawning fanbase and toothless media.
  2. I'm going off the options with a huge blockbuster deal with Chiba Lotte for Roki Sasaki. He's just 21 and he's only making 80 million Yen.
  3. I don't think it does. You don't have room on the roster for a guy that can hit OK against 25% of the pitchers out there but you can't trust to field his position.
  4. I didn't know enough to not be excited after 1989.
  5. He's not being traded and he has a no trade clause.
  6. Yea nothing builds trade value like showing other teams that you think Mateo is a better option for your playoff team.
  7. I don't think the Padres are going to let the O's trade them Hall twice in the same trade.
  8. Might be an overpay but I wouldn't rate Hall at 14.7 right now. In fact I'm so lukewarm on Hall I'm not sure it's even an overpay.
  9. Assuming he stays healthy and doesn't have some sort of complete meltdown he's opting out. Even if he doesn't, there is nothing stopping the O's from trading him.
  10. Santander has 30 and Mountcastle has 29.
  11. I don't have him on the untouchable list but I'm not eager to move him.
  12. The issue with trading Santander or Hays is mostly you have teams that are struggling as being the potential trade partners. Normally that isn't a great fit.
  13. I think that is the type of trade that doesn't get made today due to the increased amount of data out there. Pappas wasn't a stiff but there is no doubt that his numbers were positively impacted by the defense playing behind him and the park he was in.
  14. One of you should just petition a mod to combine the two.
  15. I wasn't suggesting a call up to the Majors was likely but it is the type of move a team in the playoff rush can make. Bring up a high K guy to fortify the pen. I can see it and the 40 man roster shouldn't be a deal breaker if there is a legitimate need.
  16. I think saying he used it as an excuse for not doing more in the offseason is accurate. You can of course feel free to disagree. I'm clearly not talking about the trade deadline which hasn't expired yet.
  17. Because he's discussed adding guys via trade. You don't plan around using the market and then decide it is too expensive if you accurately judged the market.
  18. It's based off the fact that Bradish didn't specifically mention them being part of the process and used language to indicate that it was his decision. I think that in most cases a player would mention if the team was involved in something of the sort. I don't think that qualifies as "zero information". But it's what you prefer to think about me absent that information.
  19. He used the misjudged the market excuse during the offseason. If you continually misjudge the market the issue is you, not the market.
  20. I'm not disagreeing with any of that. But I do think it is interesting that the adjustment seemingly didn't come from the O's.
  21. I don't think it was that hard to figure out. As for Means, he was the one behind his velocity uptick.
  22. Baumann on Baumann (Fangraphs) https://blogs.fangraphs.com/michael-baumann-on-mike-baumann/
  23. Does anyone really know anyone. Anyway here is the article, I was on mobile yesterday. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-orioles-used-to-be-bad-ish-now-they-have-kyle-bradish/ My takeaway.
