Yea I saw that. Not sure how that matches up with the rankings (yes I know how you feel about rankings, but it isn't as if Badler isn't ranking them). If you get two guys in the 28-35 range plus other folks below I'm not sure how that can be a top class. Maybe he really likes one of the O's signees? Did you see that Jasson is hitting the ball 117 MPH? I sure how he has some holes in that swing.

I wouldn't say good. This year was better but from what I've read they got two guys that were rated around ~30 in the class? I'm not sure how that qualifies as being well ranked. From what I've seen this years class is huge for the O's but is just putting them on equal footing with the other teams.

A couple things. First off you have to weigh things heavier toward the top. How much can you dock a farm system for not having as many guys, when fully developed, that you can pick off of the waiver wire and have them produce at roughly replacement level? In most cases the top of the system is going to carry the future burden. Secondly, this is the best depth the O's farm has had in quite some time. Are the #15-25 guys in the Red's system actually better prospects? I think KLaw used the lack of International prospects as an excuse to question the depth and lower the ranking. I don't think he wanted to rank a system in the top 10 that didn't have an International presence on their list.

KLaw knows his audience. He knows Baltimore fans react to perceived slights more than praise.

Sure would make trading Severino easier. The main issue I had with the trade is that Pearce was hurt and I believe the O's knew he was hurt. The Rays used him almost exclusively as a DH and never in the outfield. The O's put him into the outfield and he's on the IL almost immediately.

If you look at the trading of competitive balance picks as a trial balloon you will see a fair number of the transactions involved teams trading away draft picks in order to shed salary. Is that something we want to see more of? Would you be happy if the O's had traded their 2020-2022 first round picks away to dump the Davis contract? Please don't @me with math over that example, it was a hypothetical situation.
