  1. Simmer down... Just because you've got it all figured out doesn't mean I do.
  2. I'm here for that ride! Especially if he's down the list of our best hitters!
  3. I though we were talking about HK and didn't notice the conversation was about Mayo. I think your main point about an .850 OPS being exceptional is valid. Just added some extra data points around it.
  4. Can we get Buster Olney, talking heads, and various posters to look in the mirror for their ridiculing Elias' "hoarding" prospects? The strategy has always been about raising the competitive floor/ceiling while managing risk like a portfolio manager. Seeking alpha while managing beta is the goal. Sig's purpose is the quantify. And yet we still have people tossing out trade proposals and extensions and unhealthy FA pursuits because they know better and moving prospects to other positions. It's fun to speculate but it's foolish to present it as an absolute.
  5. Lower the bar to 400 PAs and there were 27. Health and platoons? Still less than 1 per team. In the early going, there are 42 over .850. Still wouldn't count on it, but crazier things have happened from lesser talent over the course of a season. As a team, O's team OPS is .780. Sure a few mild surprises, but also a nothing burger from Holliday.
  6. That wouldn't surprise me. Play the selling market off each other a bit.
  7. Most people have Mayo over Cowser.
  8. The EV is average at best but I wasn't expecting a 90+ thumper. But the HH% is lower than I expected. It would be nice to know what it was last year in AAA... I was thinking that if Norby can maintain his BB% and LD%, then he's got a good shot at replacing/improving on Hays career norms even if not the HR numbers. The HH% could use a bump though.
  9. Povich #4 behind a couple of obvious ones and ahead of some notables. https://pitcherlist.com/the-stash-list-week-4-top-10-pitching-prospects-to-stash-in-2024/
  10. https://pitcherlist.com/the-stash-list-week-4-top-10-hitting-prospects-to-stash-in-2024/ I debated about where to post this because it's relevant in a few discussions. But landed here because HK is tops. Mayo and Norby make appearances as well. Caveat emptor as it's a fantasy list...
  11. Sure. But what if Holliday pays his rookie tax and is Robbie Alomar 2.0? Or even Brian Roberts 2.0? If he’s the Ghost of John Gochnaur, then we have Urias.
  12. It's about getting his lead heel down on time for the high velo but also maintaining the sequence for something offspeed. He’s doing neither well. No leg kick is just less moving parts but planting the heel is what really starts the actual swing.
  13. Yup. If the rest of the lineup continues chugging, getting anything from #9 will be nuts.
  14. If we go 4-6 over a 10 game span then we can't give away outs.
  15. Agreed. We're carrying him pretty well so far. Which is what you want while he's figuring things out. If he's still struggling and we have a 10 game section under .500 then it becomes a bigger concern.
  16. Who will have a better record at seasons end: KC or BOS?
  17. This feels like the path that Elias will take. If there's an SP upgrade, then the odds increase. Keep the higher end talent for the long haul. Supplement in the short term with the next tier.
  18. No romamticizing here. Many referred to him as a solid #2 back in the day. I referred to him as a #2-3. Going forward he's a back-end starter at best unless he proves something more than the smoke and mirrors from last season.
  19. For Kremer, the cutter is his primary pitch RHH. Savant says it's worked well for him. .188 BA, .313 SLG. His 4S is getting hit harder though. Could be sequencing, could be how his mix plays/complements each other. Cutter has more movement too. He dropped the CH and Sweeper and added a splitter. Wells looks rough. Not sure his deal is.
  20. Yeah, they do. I'm interested in how the strategy plays out. I've said it before but I think they have a sneaky good staff. Probably should put this in the Red Sox thread, but Houck, Crawford, Bello, and even Pivetta (when healthy) are good. All of them would bump someone from from our rotation. Whitlock I'm not convinced.
