  1. I think they will sign someone like Galvis or Villar, but until then, here is my prediction: C Severino 1B Mancini 2B Valaika SS Sanchez 3B Ruiz LF Mountcastle CF Hays RF Santander DH Stewart Urias Sisco Davis Mullins Means Cobb Akin Kremer Zimmermann Fry Scott Tate Harvey Valdez Armstrong Screoler Lopez Obviously, a very uninspiring team.
  2. K. He obviously was a homer and had annoying cliches, but I grew up listening to him on the radio and then later in life, on TV. For nostalgic purposes, he will be missed. I wish him luck. And he had been with the Orioles for 24 years. It is not like the release of a AAA pitcher.
  3. The offseason is so boring, I would consider giving Jeff Conine a three year deal to be exciting news.
  4. Lol. It was definitely not what I was thinking about Santander. My opinion is I like Santander and like the Rule V story of him becoming good after being plucked from the Indians. But if you can get a good return for him, you trade him. That's the nature of the rebuild, despite our personal likes and dislikes of players.
  5. New Santander piece from Roch this morning. Nothing earth shattering. They are talking to the Marlins. Worth sharing to stimulate more debate. https://www.masnsports.com/school-of-roch/2021/01/wondering-whether-it-makes-sense-to-keep-or-trade-santander.html
  6. Exactly. It was good international signing and scouting (which we obviously weren't doing until the regime change) and smart trades to replenish the farm system.
  7. I'd be pleasantly surprised if we could get Bleday, let alone Bleday plus, for Santander. And I am a big Santander fan.
  8. I really did write the paragraph, yea. Imagine that!! I said the situations are obviously different, but it is possible for a team to trade off major assets and not suck for the next 3-5 seasons.
  9. While not the best example, the Yankees "sell off" in 2016 shows that a rebuild does not need to take years and years. They traded a huge trade chip in Chapman for Gleyber Torres, traded Andrew Miller for some good pieces, traded Beltran for Tate (which got them Britton shortly thereafter) made a few more moves, and were competitive again. Again, they operate with different financial constraints, etc., but this is proof that a rebuild does not need to include purposely terrible seasons.
  10. This is true. And to this point, the hardcore tanking of the Sixers netted them two very good draft picks at the top of the draft (Embiid and Simmons) and two awful early picks (Okafor and Noel). Being awful for good draft positioning does not always yield results.
  11. It's incredible how competing is literally the last thing the Orioles have interest in for the 2021 season. Like, at least sort of try to win games this year? It's not like that will derail the rebuild...
  12. Yeah, I heard Robertson was going to give us a .500 OBP out of the leadoff spot and GG defense. Oh well. There's always 2022.
  13. The Brewers have signed Daniel Robertson. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/01/brewers-to-sign-daniel-robertson.html I could not care less about "losing" the opportunity to sign Robertson, but here it is.
  14. To the extent it doesn't go without saying, Davis should start once every two weeks at most.
  15. I think until Diaz arrives, your alignment sounds right. I would hope once Diaz arrives we have Diaz in left, Hays in Center, Santander in right, Mountcastle/Mancini at 1B/DH. With Stewart sprinkled in and Mullins getting starts in CF from tiem to time.
  16. That's fine. My opinion and my post still stand.
  17. If they do this right, they should be seriously competing for a WC by 2022 and perhaps the division by 2023 (when HK, Henderson, etc. should be up.
  18. I have no problem with Ruiz, Martin, and Sanchez if that is what they decide. But there is no way Chris Davis should be getting regular starts at first base this year. It should be Mancini (health permitting) or Mountcastle. Davis playing first likely means that one of Mancini, Mountcastle, Stewart, and/or Santander is on the bench.
