  1. 3 proven major leaguers then...one proven this spring who is coming off injury and one guy who had an excellent rookie season, which often means little in the sophomore season...then...zip as far as stable, proven big league pitchers. I stand by my original post that this is the worst, most unproven Oriole starting pitching rotation at this point in any season.
  2. Oh and Dylan Bundy has 7 plus innings so far with zero runs surrendered for the Angels in spring training. And is talking of the positive changes produced by Angels coaches...lol.
  3. Even then we had Bundy, Cobb and Cashner...and Means and Wojo...we are worse off...
  4. 2018 in spring at this point had Bundy, Cashner, Gausman, Cobb...no comparison... worse this year.. 2008 had Jeremy Guthrie, Cabrera, Garrett Olson, Brian Burres, Steve Trachsel, Radhames Liz....bad...but we are in worse shape currently, imho. 2001 Jason Johnson, Pat Hentgen, Sidney Ponson, Josh Towers, Jose Mercedes...again, definitely bad, but the current situation is worse, imho.
  5. Man that ball just, just, just touched up the smallest amount of the line out in left to stay fair.
  6. Starting pitching for the home team is going to be a black hole this year. Pretty awful.
  7. Find me an Orioles starting rotation in the last 30 years that is as unstable as this one is right now.
  8. I agree. I don't want to speculate, but it sounds as if it is a biopsy of some sort to evaluate. The flu like illness that he has had may suggest something that revealed itself as needing further testing or it may be a red herring. But either way, it is a serious matter it seems to me.
  9. The whole idea of Means, Wojo and Cobb being a stable, proven starter rotation is absurd in my view. I could very easily see a scenario where all three are either not pitching due to injury or have regressed and get hammered regularly a la the later versions of Ubaldo or Tillman. I believe this starting group of pitchers is the perhaps the least proven, least stable group of Oriole pitchers I have ever seen at this stage of a season.
  10. Oh no! This does not sound good...At all.
  11. This lineup is pretty easy to mow through as the Rays pitchers are doing.
  12. Fastballs only from Carroll will not work...he can throw that little slider all he wants but never throws it for a strike.
  13. He is working crisply, in control, a very nice outing for him.
  14. Our previous crack talent evaluators gave up on Roe....who has been effective for Rays now for couple of years. Mountcastle still has much to learn.
  15. Dozens of guys clear waivers every spring. And surely they knew before the Rule 5 draft which 2 or 3 out of our minor league guys was likely to stick as a pitcher breaking out of camp this year. It just seems like a waste of 50,000 bucks to me. Chicken feed of course and really no big deal, but odd nonetheless, imho.
  16. Just being dramatic...lol. But I liked what I saw of the Rule 5s and was a bit disappointed but also the explanation ME offered for their return seemed evasive to me because the reasons he gave were already realities that were certainly known when they made the picks...i.e. roster size, 3 batter rule, etc.
  17. Man, looking at the roster in the cold, harsh light of day......whew....we are going to be bad, bad, bad.
  18. Oh well...I am glad they made Rule 5 picks without thinking it through very much as to whether they would be keeping them or not.
  19. When Cobb goes against them, he should hit as many in a row as he can before he gets thrown out. Then whoever relieves him should do the same, followed by the next, until we have to forfeit. And then march off the field banging trash can lids.
  20. The game is harder than it looks....give him a season, he will be fine.
  21. I wish they would DFA him....tomorrow.
  22. Have a bench coach call the pitches....
  23. In real games, they could yell out using a foreign language that would change each inning ....
  24. Hardy much, much better at the plate than Iglesias will ever be. Iglesias is a better defender in range, arm and creativity although JJ was the master at never missing the routine play.
