  1. And we all just assume that the top three will just be injury free. What does the season look like if Cobb or Means ends up on the DL out of the spring (a la Gallardo or Cobb himself) ? We have zero depth at the ML starting rotation level, worse than I have ever seen it at this time of year in all the years I have been following the Orioles.
  2. Yes, but we have out performed them in the offseason getting rid of Villar and Bundy.
  3. I have confidence we can tank better than any team out there.
  4. It is going to be a horrible starting rotation even with a healthy Cobb...if he turns up not healthy, we may not win 50 games.
  5. Cobb at his best would be pretty useful to a contending team. He will have to pitch at his best, show he is healthy and we will pay some or all of the dollars left depending on what comes back, but I think clearing old contracts is part of the plan. We shall see, lot of ifs that have to pan out.
  6. If he pitches well, he will be traded no matter what the return looks like.
  7. I liked him in the minors, but I went to the game he got his first ML hit, a home run....and this moment just cinched the deal for me. It may be his alltime Oriole moment with his first hit, no matter how long his career.
  8. The boy was raised up right!! Character.
  9. Rose is not allowed to be employed or given anything by an MLB club but he can and has shown up at ballparks and can pay his way in like any person. Yes, I think it is overly harsh. Ban all the steroid abusing cheaters too if you want to be fair in your judgement. And the domestic violence perpetrators. Cora was stupid and made a very bad error in judgement. He has been hit with a tremendously large penalty in the loss of a multi million dollar job, embarassment and permanently destroying his reputation and never will work again in his field. So, enough with the punishment forever deal.
  10. Name another individual who has a lifetime ban from even entering a ballpark? Even Pete Rose can pay his way into a ballpark...lol.
  11. Thanks...the good news is Iglesias is markedly better than either at +12 and 6th overall last year among SSs.
  12. Why don’t you say what you really think? Lol. ? Sounds a little harsh to me.
  13. Does the methodology hold up as well on the bad side of the analysis? Meaning, I can see where the above average outs ranking can stratify the truly good separated from the mediocre to bad, but within the bad grouping does it hold up?...i.e. both Villar and Richie Martin were under average ratings with Villar at -4 and Martin at -5....does that mean Villar was a “better” ss than Martin or that they were both just under average?
  14. I could be team shrink. Asking questions like....”What were you thinking swinging at that pitch?” “What was going through your mind throwing it there to that guy?”
  15. So Trey’s 6 WAR for his first three years cost 1.6 million in 3 years of minimum salary. If he repeats his 3.3 WAR from last year, his cumulative 9.3 WAR over 4 years will have cost the Angelos 6.35 million....pretty good deal for management thus far.
  16. When your life passes in front of you early on in the week, settling for 1.05 million looks pretty darn good I would imagine.
  17. Outstanding!! Congratulations, Luke!! Bring the Orioles back to the top!!
  18. I think Crusher comes roaring back and wins MLB Comeback Player of the Year hitting 45-50 homers and knocking in over 100. Then what do you do? Seriously, if that happens, I win the most unlikely prediction coming true award for all-time. I really am not interested in the partial quasi club ambassador role, and I would just prefer a clean break....eat the cost, end the contract, period.
  19. https://www.prospectslive.com/mlb-draft/2019/12/4/mlb-2020-mock-draft-10 Everything is just somebody’s opinion at this point. It does seem that Torkelson, Hancock and Austin Martin are always in the top 3 of the movks I have seen thus far though they are interchangeable in their slot number. But we will get a premium prospect with our pick, for sure.
  20. I agree...he is very good. I like this signing a lot.
  21. Being truly committed to the funding of developmental programs, scouting, local pipelines, cultivation of relationships is what I see being done that is very different from previous regimes. These short term and long term structural changes can only yield a more positive outcome than we have seen in the past.
  22. Good article today interviewing Koby Perez...he feels that we are on track. I believe his hiring will turn out to be Elias best move, even more than Sig. “We should be signing some of those top guys in 2021,” Perez said. “We have a lot of work done with some 2021 players that we feel that we are the front-runners to sign.” https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/bs-sp-orioles-koby-perez-one-year-20200106-xxie3u5q2ffyrmisgofh4zg4du-story.html
  23. Maybe the second “baseball” can come out of the “Pail.”
  24. I have been truly blessed. I went to game 3 in 1966 with my Dad when I was 9 years old. I went to a game in each of the 1969, 1970, 1971, 1979 and 1983 World Series (as well as a number of playoff games during those years and as recently as the 2014 Delmon Young double game) . And either I will get to the next one or they can plant the championship flag on my grave...lol.
  25. Me too. I was young in 1966..lol So I am greedy. But my kids were born in 86 and 89 and have been promised World Series tickets since they were born.
