  1. Joey Ortiz continues to intrigue.....

Over his last 62 games, which is 38% of a 162 game season, (a "sample", but not super small):

    .365 / .436 / .639 / 1.075

    Extrapolated to 162 game pace:

    230 hits, 157 runs scored

    52 doubles, 5 triples, 37 homers, 141 RBI

402 total bases, 16 stolen bases, 3 caught stealing

As to defense, scrolled back through this thread looking for Tony's comments, as I trust his opinion more than any of the "National" publications when it comes to O's prospects:

    Aug 3.

Defensively he's the best defender at SS and 2B in the system (minus Holliday since I haven't seen him).

    Aug 15.

In my mind he's got better hands than Mateo but a little bit less arm. they're about the same range wise though when it comes to covering ground on pop flies, Mateo will get the edge because of his 80 level speed.

As good as Ortiz is at short, he might be a perennial gold glover at 2B.

    Sept 9.

Ortiz to me is every bit the defender that Mateo is with maybe a tad less arm, though Ortiz's arm is solid major league average for a SS.

    Sept 10.

Ortiz is a plus defensive SS and could very well be a gold glove 2B. Ortiz's significant defensive plusses makes him a better overall prospect for me than Westburg.

  2. Everything looked great on the broadcast.

Good thing, because the announcing crew were hideous, un-listenable, and I had to mute them.

The loss further soured my mood, and the beverages did not taste as tasty, although it did not dampen the enthusiasm for quantity.

Old man yells at clouds...  "Get off my lawn"

  3. 1. If he hits 62+, I will personally recognize Judge as the single season record holder. And as a former McGwire fan, it stings a bit.

    2. If he re-signs with NYY, I hope the contract hamstrings their payroll for many years. (And PS, I would never, ever, wish ill health or injury upon any player. However, if his performance lags, well, I ain't responsible for an act of the baseball gods)

  4. The sheer volume of talent that could / should be in '23 camp will be impressive. It's always good to see the players live and in person, MiLBtv just doesn't do them justice.

The infield could become a logjam, and that is a very good place to be. Big ticket FA signing? Trading for a #1 TOR starter?

    The future is !brilliante!

  5. I might be planning a roadtrip in the Revel for '23 Spring training........ Have been to bunches of Spring Training games in Arizona, but never down to the Grapefruit league.

Does anyone know if there are places to boondock / camp / stay near the O's complex? My rig is 20' long (think Amazon delivery van), and completely self contained.

Any info, I'd be very "grape"ful. (Oh boy that was bad)

It's worth noting that the players association maybe didn't fight as hard for it as they might have, because service time manipulation primarily affects people that are future members of the players association, as opposed to current members.

    This, I believe is "Bingo"

What brings this up now?  Nelson hasn’t posted since the day he wrote that.

Been on the road, haven't been deep into any threads in awhile, getting caught up. Was curious what happened to him. I just happened to be on the site back in the day when JTrea dropped his last post that got deleted. Struck me as having a similar "tenor".

Did you read what he said???🤬🤬🤬What he said at any age, is unacceptable and rooted in hatred. Hard stop. Not all “edgy” tweets are the same and your response tells me all I need to know about you as a human being.

Why am I getting JTrea vibes here?

Were you watching last night?  At least three times Odor made plays that Vavra likely would have struggled to make. He’s out there for a reason and made me a believer in why last night.

I still don’t love it but it is what it is.

I'm assuming you saw him play quite a bit at Norfolk? Or are you getting this from other posters, etc. It's a honest question, I never more than a couple innings of him at Norfolk on MiLB.tv. I just struggle to believe he is that brutal in the field, Odor ain't exactly metal glove material.
