  1. Then you have him up here as a starter. If your goal is for him to be a ML sp next year, you keep developing him as such.
  2. Strong disagree. Elias is very clearly not planning to win this season. So why punt on Hall’s development as a starter, which is a far bigger deal long term? Hall brought up to the pen feels like a win now move, and that’s clearly not where the Orioles are. and vespi has been good when up here
  3. I know they're in the FCL (& one is old for the league). I don't mind trades that set us up for a run starting in '23. This trade makes us worse in '23 and probably '24 as well. The FCL kids are 3-4 years away at best. I wasn't expecting the Orioles to push for the play-offs in 2022, but I'm not here for a never-ending rebuild either. And when the return pieces on all your trades are in High-A at best...that's what you're setting up for.
  4. I am irate at this deal. The Mancini deal made sense. The Orioles aren't even getting back any top prospects in this one, it makes zero sense for this year, next year, or 2024. Do any of these guys even crack the O's top 30?
  5. I need an: It's a really good/smart trade that I'm glad the Orioles made, but I hate it option
  6. Think there is a fairly good chance Adley winds up top 3 in AL rookie of the year (see Franco last year)
  7. Interesting to hear Palmer mention the perspective from the booth. Makes you realize that the announcers haven't been on the road in several years, and it takes time to adjust to new stadiums, especially if you've never been in the booth there before
  8. Several pitchers who were drafted had TJ too, but they all fell in the draft somewhat due to it. You don't get Johnson for Mancini if he was healthy either. Injuries increase risk, and therefore impact value. I suspect they were still willing to sign him...just not at the number he wanted. That's not a weak excuse, its economics
  9. Orioles best player, and it might not be close BTW Austin Riley just got a 10yr 212 million dollar contract. Should the Orioles lock up Adley (obviously they have many years of team control)
  10. No (and you mean deeper). Any announcer wants to be able to go up and down octaves, but her speaking voice is an alto. That said, this is something that has happened to a lot of female announcers (you also see it in music) where people are used to a male voice, and so they respond more positively to male voices, and criticize female voices more. It's one reason just having representation is important, because you are acclimatizing people to hearing a variety of different voices and being receptive to them
  11. The way she phrases things is just very awkward
  12. Oh my god this camera work is awful Vavra has some good speed
  13. How can anyone think this team is a contender with Mountcastle batting
  14. yep, ergo Elias deciding not to try to give the team the best chance this year of making the postseason makes sense. Doesn't change the reality that that's what is happening. Elias isn't general managing to put this years best team on the field
  15. The man literally drove across 4 lanes of traffic to stop his car and chase the 14 year old squegeer with a bat. So yeah, don't try to attack people with bats (and look I wouldn't stay out past midnight and walk around that's true, take an uber. The roving gangs attacking random people at the harbor thing is straight fear mongering, the 2am car jacking in Little Italy is both true and was horrible. And most of the rest of this is just Fox BS, the police aren't allowed to just stop people and frisk them bc it's unconstitutional, and good lord no we shouldn't be arresting people for weed. But yeah I'd probably trust the people who live in the city. I (small female) have walked from the Fells area to camden yards multiple times this year while it's light out. To get home at night I either uber or walk in a group).
  16. This is true, but he can be moved to the 60 man during the season. So if they don't call up Gunnar this year, that would be a way to clear a spot for him in the spring etc
  17. And that was always the most likely reason, especially given the orioles and physicals. I will say the baseball process of not having physicals pre-draft has always seemed a little strange.
  18. Jettisoning Mancini to call up Diaz feels like giving up on the season. Squares with Elias' comments about "playoff odds" when discussing the Mancini trade
  19. In chat he said next guy on his Orioles prospect list is Ortiz
  20. "Elias we feel a championship window is opening" Apparently in 2024/25 which is the earliest these two will be here (ok it's a pretty good return in terms of prospect value for 2 months of Mancini, but them both being so far away hurts)
  21. Seth Johnson (well he'll be on 60 day DL to start)
