  1. Yeah, I would have said give Lopez the 7th and 8th to get to Wells.
  2. He had 6 SO in 5 IP. His FB can be plus at time w a higher spin rate. I’m not a big believer in CERA, but I’d love to see if a catcher who's a better receiver and better at sequencing than Severino would help. I don’t necessarily think he’s destined for the BP either. He could be a serviceable back end guy.
  3. Send Akin out for the 6th and have someone up. I’m not taking him out for a hit that’s not hot hard, anything else including a walk, pull him. Scott in relief. Lopez for a clean 7th- Doesn’t matter now.
  4. Had the right guy on second that time, didn’t have to worry about a play at the plate.
  5. Regarding Akin, I don’t disagree his pitch count gets run up because his offerings aren’t great. Also, I’d like to see him drop about 20 pounds before he gets into camp next year.
  6. I don’t get this. Pitch count alone is not representative of a bad game. He had only given up a run at the time of your post. He still could pitch into the 6th only having given up a run.
  7. Yes.... Mancini is slow and Lagares is an excellent defender w/ above average arm.
  8. Other than hanging a CU to Ohtani, good outing by Akin today.
  9. Nobody sent him, he was rounding 1B. Didn’t need to be a great play, he just got caught rounding the bag too far.
  10. Yep, pretty small sample. He’s very toolsy, runs the bases aggressively, but not out of control and plays solid defense. The coaches like him, too. A lot of kudos coming out of ST.
  11. Bundy has been moved to the pen where they worked on shortening his arm action. I saw the start vs Texas and it was noticeable. He’s had mixed results since returning to the rotation with his longest outing of 6.1 IP vs the Rangers. Since July 29 he’s allowed 9 earned runs over 19.1 IP.
  12. JP would have flipped his lid if Severino was catching him back in the day. Good riddance to him as well, but probably not until the off season.
  13. I think you’re right here. Although, from what I’ve read, Jones is by far the worst among them. I’m willing to give Mateo some more time as I don’t think it’s definitive that he’s below average. He’s been good at 2B, or at least better than he’s looked at SS. He doesn’t have the arm for short or third.
  14. I’ve speculated Buck Britton is being groomed. Seems to get a lot of good notice. My former HS teammate coached him and Zack in CA. So, if he does get a ML managing job I’ll never hear the end of it. ?
  15. He’s definitely made his mark. During the series with the Tigers, Schoop briefly played 2B and made a tag on an attempted steal (I forget who it was). It was textbook Dickerson. Schoop made the tag keeping the glove on the runner and got the out. Hardy also was very proficient at that play.
  16. Yes, but sometimes that’s progress, especially on a team as bad as this one. I, for one, will not miss Franco and his ridiculous attempts at bare handing balls that should be gloved. Horrible. You could hear Jim Palmer’s frustration every time he tried it. Good riddance.
  17. You mean a bigger hit than being a horrible baseball team?
  18. Well, looks like people have given up here. There has been a myriad of bad defense during the losing streak. I don’t usually agree with the people who bash Stewart ( yes, I know he’s below average, but the takes are mostly extreme and sometimes just wrong), but yesterday he played there ball hit by Freeman into a double. I know it hit the wall, but he got there fairly quick and then shied away from the wall, not knowing exactly where he was-a cardinal sin for a guy playing the OF.
  19. I’d love to see a link for that. I remember Angelos being against paying the posting fee. They were never in on any players who were posted by NPB. One of the many ways he shortchanged the franchise.
