  1. I’ll bet Pete Rose loves all the Draft Kings ads and the association with MLB.
  2. But he’s the first option in a one run game vs the Yankees after the team had a day off?
  3. He said that’s what he was going to do more of this year. Wasn’t for the signing, but he’s had some pro ABs.
  4. That was my thought. It seems like they’re intent on establishing the slider, though, it was better that inning.
  5. Nope. He came through college(35-38 GS) and the minors (47-51 GS) predominantly as a starter.
  6. Come on, that 1-0 pitch is a strike.
  7. I was thinking the same thing. Needs to shorten up, looks like he’s coming out of his shoes.
  8. I’m wondering if you still feel this way given your comments in today’s GT regarding GRod. Don’t Wells, not as much Voth, look to be better candidates to fill out the rotation while Rodriguez figures out the breaking stuff at Norfolk? And at the same time they have valid reasons to cover the service time issue.
  9. Looks that way, then they can have him ready to pitch starter's innings in case of injury or poor performance while he gets to full strength physically. I'd prefer they go that route to giving him infrequent outings from the BP. He should be given every opportunity to fail as a starter first and he gets preparation for that at Norfolk.
  10. Hmm, could have sworn Mullins saw less ABs vs LHP pitching last year after he struggled against them the first few months. Mullins can be platooned and probably should be if he shows again he can't hit LHP.
  11. I haven't been here a lot in the offseason, but I did lurk occasionally. There was some talk about the needs of the Marlins and Mullins was discussed. I do believe the time was the offseason, but maybe the Marlins or whatever may have shown interest didn't make a good enough offer. I agree about "significant" value. In whose eyes? I certainly don't put Mullins in the same category as Trout, or, in fact anyone on the list included in the OP. Despite your incorrect assertion that he loses "a lot" (why or why not)of value in a move to LF, hope is not a strategy. If he can get back to 2021 levels, you definitely trade him at his highest value. Whether or not that's done is speculation, but we're about to see what Elias can or can't do when the stakes are raised.
  12. Results don't equate to what you see, if that makes sense. Meaning, I saw him top out at 92-93 and I think that's where he'll be, not only from his numbers last year, but overall he's never been shown to be overpowering. His slider looked good and he'll need that much in the same way Means needs his CH or he'll get hit around. I don't see Wells as a long term piece and he may be better suited for a swingman role in the future. But he's here now and can probably fill a role. As I read yesterday (not sure where), Gibson and Irvin are locks and with Hall's health in question, Rodriguez seems like more of a lock. Does Wells look to be a better option that either Kremer or Bradish? Not in my mind.
  13. So, I'll just say up front I have mixed feelings reading reports like this when I wanted to be there myself this year especially, but thanks? I highlighted your notes on Gunnar and a thread I wanted to post regarding the best move forward with him defensively and the fate of Mateo. I like Mateo and thought he should have won the GG, but he can't hit. Elias may have shopped him, not finding the right deal, but the more pressing question is playing Gunnar at his best spot and I think that's SS. He doesn't have the range of Mateo, but his muscular frame may give people the impression he's not "rangy". I probably wouldn't describe him that way, but there's no doubt I want him at SS. With Holliday moving quickly, in two or three years I'd then slide Gunnar over to 3B to make room for JH. That would be the plan anyway. I also think Kjerstad is ready. He's a pure hitter with a great stroke. What do you think of him in the box before he makes contact? He looks like it's his favorite place in the world to me. Westburg is another interesting guy I'd like to see get more chances. I don't want him traded to keep organizational depth guys. And finally, who is Diaz' dad?
  14. Mullins made improvements last year with his throwing, but the idea that his arm is less valuable in LF is not valid. He may be more valuable because at CY he's covering more ground and doesn't have to make throws from the RCF gap or any other throw that would magnify his weakness, and improvements aside, it's still a weakness. He also struggled mightily last year with LHP. Not only that, but the depth of OF players in the system and the Orioles' operational philosophy dictates that they look for someone as a trade partner with which Mullins is an improvement in the OF and can provide the Orioles with a return in an area of need. Mullins should be a platoon partner with his eventual replacement until that time comes, not to prevent potential injury, but because it makes the most sense.
  15. And if those two or three games are losses? It’s being stupid at this point, with the young guys the selling point of this team, to jerk him and the fans around. Failing a complete miscalculation by everyone about his talent he should probably get the starting nod for the opener. Wonder what the odds of that happening is. Actually, I don’t. Won’t happen, but probably should. Orioles fans should be treated to GRod in as many games on the ML roster as possible.
  16. Love that one, too. EB did not suffer fools.
  17. Three innings, but who’s counting? Well, apparently me. Also, freakin Arozarena! The bat speed is a blur.
  18. I don’t know if that’s a good thing, but good on ya.
