T Wells is a big strong guy, worked mainly as a starter in the minors and has the stuff off a starter. There’s no reason he can’t work as a starter and get up to 5 IP.

It can be easily read that way because that’s what the writer wrote. Santander may find by lessening his load it’s easier to avoid the injuries.

That’s just it, though. He’s not an option in the OF. And it IS spring training, you see them stretching out guys as considerations for the rotation. Trying guys at positions to get them more familiar with it. Hardly an attitude of “who cares”.

No one who’s trading for Mancini is thinking about him in the OF. You can’t just put him out there and say,”See? He plays the OF.” DH him and play him at 1B, Mountcastle doesn’t need to play every inning at 1B in ST.

So? That’s the reason to play a guy in the OF who has no business being out there?
