  1. The Official Site of Major League Baseball | MLB.com Because I'm tech challenged I'll ask someone else to post the screenshot of Correa leading all current SS in WAR and that's with him missing 25% of the Astros' games since 2015.
  2. What is Akin's weight coming into camp this year? I don't want to see another picture of him and that double chin.
  3. Obviously, it doesn't. I am not exactly impressed with his stuff except for the CH, which if he doesn't have, makes him mediocre. As always, I'll be happy if he proves me wrong and continues with the production you noted.
  4. I don't disagree, however, there's a ton of unrealized potential with him. It wouldn't take that long to find out if he's just an injury waiting to happen. A lot of upside if he can stay healthy.
  5. Man! So, excited for the Jordan Lyles era in Orioles lore. Meh....
  6. Means out of the gate....pre no-hitter or post ASG? I'm still less than optimistic he's anything more than a back of the rotation guy when it's all said and done.
  7. Yeah, I was underwhelmed watching him as a starter last year, but that could change if he reverts to form.
  8. Baumann could be an interesting candidate in a defined role like closer, though, I despise the very idea of defined roles in the pen. He has decent stuff which might play up out there, not right away, but given a few select opps in low-leverage situations.
  9. Does it matter at all that the team actually has to be better first before that happens?
  10. Has he though? He said they were rebuilding without saying the words. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been in favor of the hiring of Elias and I still think he’s the right guy, but at what point do people question the process? You expect him to put the pedal to the metal a year from now because he was clear and straightforward that year five was when it would all come together? Yeah, no. In the end, Elias is only as good as ownership allows him to be.
  11. As Tony noted, this fits here. First of all, to answer your question, a pitcher. Secondly, why isn’t Correa a realistic option? If you see them competing this year, doesn’t he help them do that? And then he’s with the crop they have coming up. Not only that, he becomes an immediate clubhouse presence with a history of winning. As far as the guys you have coming up, it doesn’t sound like you are even sure who would take over at SS. So, Correa starts there until one of the kids are ready and then they slide him over to 3B. Bottom line, Correa provides leadership and instant offense and defense. A transition year doesn’t limit them to just contending. Correa is realistic for any team who wants to compete and legitimizes a team to win down the road.
  12. Yeah, the difference is ownership. But other than that, it’s a solid take. Whether Elias can execute a similar approach in Baltimore remains to be seen.
  13. Never admit to that! You’d shatter our perceptions. As much as I would like to see them spend, I still wonder if he has free reign. I have my doubts. If it becomes apparent he doesn’t, then what’s changed. I’m sure everyone will readily accept the idea that the prospects along with depth signings will bring Baltimore a championship.

  15. Their young guys are who they should be building around. I don’t believe FA is the best route to “make” it complete your team with a goal of winning. It can be, but because the contracts rarely work out (a bigger consideration for Baltimore considering the market) FA is a means to an end, not the only means. However, because of various factors (Covid, shortening of the season, loss of a year of development for many prospects) which did lengthen the time of this rebuild, FA is still a tool to improve a team. If, as you say, they should look to winning this year, why not add FA who are proven and can help them do so? As I’ve said, AR and the class of guys ready to come up should be what the team is built around. So, then again, how long? They need to take the necessary steps to improve the team and show the fan base they’re ready to compete next year if not this year. Otherwise, and it becomes more excuses (what they call reasons) as to why it will take just a bit longer.
  16. Yep....I was one of those calling for the rebuild longer than I care to remember. “Rebuild”, though, implies that there’s a point in time when the team is built. It shouldn’t go on indefinitely with the excuse they’re still rebuilding. How long? Get it moving.
  17. So, Greinke throws 58 pitches through 4 IP giving up only three hits and you take him out?
  18. Even on a good team it doesn’t make sense. Having a guy who can excel in high leverage situations is more valuable to a team.
  19. I wonder what the consensus on Baker will be if the Astros win.
