  1. He either is just plain wild so much of the time, with balls not reaching the plate, going over batters' heads, or a foot or more outside. HIs arm must be tense as a bungee at the end of a bridge jump more than half the time. If he was confident, relaxed, and trusted his stuff, mainly his fastball, he'd be able to set batters up for it with some off speed stuff (and vice versa). It's like he's the "I don't throw strikes" version of Nuke LaLoosh (ie Bad Nuke, not Good Nuke). "I don't know where it's going." - Crash Davis
  2. Agreed. That thin pen leaves the O's so little room for error. In games like today, one mistake often makes the difference in what was a 1-0 game late.
  3. That stutter happens with me some with my FireTV through their MLB app. It is usually audio dropout more than video.
  4. Agreed. Fuji with runners on base concerns me due to the probability of wild pitches, either to advance from first base into scoring position or score from third without a ball even being put into play. I only feel more at ease with him starting a clean inning.
  5. Was it one of the extra innings where there was a ghost runner at 2nd to start the inning? I've asked my wife the same and she said, "it's extra innings, slim".
  6. Things that go bump in the night, like this thread! Keep your eyes on the prize!
  7. I've been a long time listener to Section 336. They just seem like regular guys I'd like to hang out with at a game. The talk is free flowing (they are brothers with Maryland roots) and seems to have relatable personalities. Bird's Eye View is my second most listened to podcast. They have a structure or regular segments, have dry / wry humor and can discuss analytics and "eye test" aspects of the game with ease. More cerebral than Sec. 336 in approach, but one I try to stay caught up on.
  8. I'm not aware of a solution. Since audio and video take longer to travel through the interwebs than Gameday updates, I think there will always be a lag. I remember this when I tried to have Gameday open in one browser tab and the game video in another. It's been awhile, but I can't remember how far behind it is, but it seemed substantial. I did notice the audio and Gameday updated data have a *far longer* lag on my iPhone when I'm busy and can only listen to the radio online call. It may be due to the lack of strength of my phone carrier data (Verizon). I will say that if you are watching the game on MLB-TV and choose the pop-out video option, the Gameday data that's part of the game do stay up to date and you can just bounce back to that tab. I'm talking streaming on a computer or an HDTV screen in this case. I use ExpressVPN for the blackout here in Central NC. I have tried MLB-TV on Mac laptops, iPhones, Apple TV (box, not the "channel") and FireTV and as far as just viewing the game and not keeping up with the Gameday data, FireTV is the best format for me (my TV is a FireTV). If I start the game late, it's much easier to fast forward past the commercials and inning breaks. Sometimes if I am way behind and trying to catch up, I even fast forward past the downtime between pitches. However, Gameday on FireTV is only the ball-strike box with pitch placement and the speed and kind of pitch. It does have the spin rate however, which I find pretty cool. Next best is on a Mac mini through my TV screen using the Firefox browser. The downside there is that it's trickier to skip past commercials (clicking on the inning box doesn't always get me there and I get those canned "Hall of Fame Connection" pieces ad nauseam and MLB Flashbacks. Third best is through the Apple TV box (there's no VPN available on that, so I can only watch games after they're over via that method since my area is blacked out).
  9. O's have a recent streak of seven wins in a row, and now they lose four in a row. These things happen in the course of 162. They'll get back in a groove. The hitting will bounce back and I have confidence in Kremer, GRod, and Gibson to steady things pitching-wise (not sure of the order of the next starts). And Bradish was not terrible nor was Means in his first start. Keep your eyes on the prize. I know the team is that way.
  10. I think you're right. I think about all those trades in the 70s that sent prospects or starters. For the most part, things worked out in the standings for them in that decade, ie. five first place AL East finishes, 3 AL pennants, one World Series win.
  11. Tell me about it. New England likes to boast about their poets and writers and their sports writers like to evoke them every chance they get. That's why I call where the Red Sox play "Segue Park".
  12. He is getting up there. I remember keeping score at a Tides at Durham Bulls game and I still have that scorebook. I think he hit AAA about the same time as Wieters.
  13. Most here realized the fun of the scenario, Austin’s Cheshire Cat smile, and how in previous years he’d have likely injured himself.
  14. When it was 7-2, I posted “I feel like this is gonna be an 11-9 game.” I clearly underestimated the carnage. But in the end, win column and series. But ugly as I’ve ever seen.
  15. Like Michael Jackson once said, he “beat it’.
  16. MacGuffin In fiction, a MacGuffin (sometimes McGuffin) is an object, device, or event that is necessary to the plot and the motivation of the characters, but insignificant, unimportant, or irrelevant in itself
  17. On the plus side, they left 12 on base and O’s 2.
  18. It’s also not about the bombing victims. It’s about Patriots Day and they went with yellow due to the Marathon being the same day. "“Unveiled in April 2021, the uniform adopts the blue and yellow colors that honor the spirit of Patriots’ Day weekend, and features ‘Boston’ in a stencil font across the chest paying tribute to the Boylston Street finish line. The numbers ‘617′ are highlighted on the left sleeve as a nod to the area code for Boston and Fenway Park. The numbers appear within a racing bib, honoring one of the city’s most iconic annual sports traditions.”" https://fansided.com/2023/06/19/why-boston-red-sox-wear-yellow-blue-jerseys/#
  19. I think some other team has a City Connect that looks like The Boston Tea Party or the Boston Massacre , so they punted and went with the Marathon.
  20. I think when one team wears softball unis, we get softball scores.
  21. Adam Jones in ‘14. Low and outside and a swing and a miss.
  22. The amount of runs in this one kinda reminds me of game 1 of the season in Fenway. Maybe we can redeem ourselves with a better outcome. I jokingly predicted an 11-9 game. Now, it’s not looking that funny.
