  1. An unknown player (either someone currently on the 40 that is thought of as "dead weight" or someone that is acquired and everyone goes "....really?") puts on a pretty impressive season for themselves Means doesn't have a "Sophmore Slump" and flashes "TOR" potential A "lower level" Minor Leaguer makes some big strides and enters late season ranking conversation for a Top 10 spot The Norfolk Shuttle has had its annual maintenance and doesn't break down this year
  2. What is funny, on the MLB Auction site, the Orioles had TON of their "Authentic" stuff for very cheap. Things were about $25-$50 cheaper than what I saw them for during the season and you could get a dozen baseballs (11 game used, 1 random autographed) for $50.
  3. Compared to how the rest of the event was, according to people who went, this was the "big news."
  4. Hopefully this was a 1 year thing and they get back to a regular "Fan Fest" next year... Ok, I'll go back to dreaming.
  5. Mountcastle at 2nd should have been attempted when they moved him from short. But I don't think he will be very good there. I'm not saying "terrible," but it will be a struggle. His arm is weak for the position and his hands aren't good (for a transfer on a double play.) He was declining in lateral ability when he was at 3rd and has bulked up a bit since, but they might have him on a program/diet. I think they want to shoehorn him in somewhere to his bat to the Majors. With the outfield setting up the way it might be, there wouldn't really be room for him out there. First base is tied up. 2nd might be the best shot.
  6. Same. Luke and I noted how he was noticeably heavier this season. I wonder if that caused any issues, as he was hitting just fine until the second half of the season?
  7. It was a lot of "3" and "4" inning appearances by him with extremely high pitch counts. That was "struggling horribly."
  8. Yeah, but Jackson might take Davis in a hitting contest.
  9. Akin struggled horribly last season, failing to go deep into games and instead had a lot of "pitches per at bat." Maybe it was the new ball at AAA, working on new stuff, or a combination of both.
  10. Well, they just signed Austin Romine. Maybe they were locked on if they didn't feel like they could reach an agreement with Romine?
  11. That was the exit velocity on Jason Garcia's pitches too...
  12. A's just put him on the 40 man roster last month, so...Doubtful. A few, cheap "had upside as a prospect and might just need a new spot" contenders were Beau Taylor and Nick Cuiffo before they signed recently with the Indians and Rangers.
  13. Elias again stated he wanted a 4th catcher, but it would be on a minor league deal. I don't quite get it. Are they looking for a "veteran" that they can have in the system for now that can be in the system for a few years and be a backup to Rutschman in 2 years? That is the only reason I can think of to publicly say "we want a 4th guy," or or he could be hoping Severino has a good Spring and he can jettison him for a low level prospect. Because if they just want a body, they don't have to look for a MLB free agent. They could take a Minor League free agent and either take one with MLB experience (Taylor Davis) or one that would mainly be just a Norfolk body (Wynston Sawyer.) They also still have Cervenka (who should be in Norfolk this year).
  14. Same reason it makes sense for David to get at bats.
  15. Sisco is in the majors and it wasn't due to his defensive prowess in the minors.
  16. The Official Anthony Santander International Fan Club.
  17. Nunez or Ruiz for "International Money" or PTBNL.
  18. For once, I agree with you. It feels like there will be a trade tomorrow, even if it isn't a "big" name (Givens, Mancini)
  19. Have to work and nothing looks interesting enough for me to spend PTO hours on.
