  1. I think he lands a ST invite somewhere that has a need for a DH/Backup COF, and depends on his ST bats, if he makes the lineup there.
  2. Are the same scouts that didnt think Yaz could play at the major league level as more than a bench COF? Stewart was drafted for his bat. Hopefully, Elias can draft guys who can hit, as well as field a position.
  3. I thought MLBTR was just a service that rebroadcast out what other writers had posted?
  4. why does this need its own thread, we have a thread for reporting on former Orioles.
  5. We have no idea of the circumstances involving his pre 2018 activities, considering the boys hadn't taken over yet, and King Peter was in charge.
  6. it was fun while it lasted, and very nice to taste winning baseball after 14 years of nightmare run organization/team.
  7. We had a house rule where the ball was playable off the roof top, so crushed home runs were sometimes fly ball outs.
  8. We used whiffle balls, as we was in a sub division, while the yards were pretty decent, just not close to big enough for anything but a whiffle ball. Here is the Ripken way of stick ball. Note: I saw this same method used for my nephew in travel ball and high school ball.
  9. I too was of the opinion to leave him at third. At third, you could make a case about his being the top 3rd active in MLB, he did things on the field nobody else could duplicate. Moving to SS, while above defense, wasn't close to the top at that position.
  10. Im sure that Elias has his reasons, and I suspect next season will give us a bit more insight into his ability to manage or not
  11. Maybe Manny believes Buck understands the game pretty well and enjoys playing under him?
  12. Chris was a bright spot on a very bad Oriole team. Sadly, with pitchers, sometimes, there is such a fine line between getting hitters out, and get knocked around by the hitters, it doesn't take much for them to lose that edge.
  13. I think if somebody actually offered this to Elias, he would have taken the offer. I believe, the offers if any, came in on the low side, and Elias chose to keep him. I have nothing concrete to base this on, just keyboard GMing.
  14. Mussina is far from the first ball player to be one. But, as far as douche bags go, even you have to admit, he didnt do things like spit in the umpire face, head butt his head into end zone wall after scoring a touchdown. His posse didnt shot somebody in Las Vegas coming out of a strip joint, nor did I ever see a report on TMZ where he was drunk and running naked through the hotel lobby.
  15. Im pretty sure King Peter was the driving force behind that, and was trying to win a WS Trophy, before his lifetime was over.
  16. I think Sisco was issues with his glove behind the plate and his handling of the pitching staff.
  17. Buck was explaining to one of the MASN radio guys during a pregrame show about how the popular fan opinion is to dump a player that you dont plan or are unable to resign, and at least get something. He said he understood how the fan could think that, but in the game of baseball, thats not always the best move for the team at that time. You have to balance on who would replace that person, and the ROI that the other team is giving u.
  18. I think the system in place, was working, until Toronto came calling and kicking the tires on DD. Peter got riled up, and took over micromanaging the team, and the results are quite evident, or the lack of results.
