  1. $12m for a 36 yr old David Price isn't somewhere I want to go.
  2. Of course, there are the three CYA's to consider and the fact that he was second twice, third once and fifth twice in the voting. I don't recall Mussina ever being considered the best pitcher in the league.
  3. A WS ring or appearance is not required IMO, but prolonged greatness is. Earl, Brooks, Cal, Palmer, and Eddie all meet that requirement. I understand the reasoning, but I still struggle a bit with Frank given he only played six seasons in Baltimore. However, I struggle even more with the comment that Palmer is "probably" the best pitcher in Oriole history. Probably?
  4. It's difficult to judge Martin at this point since he's lost so much time to injury. We shouldn't forget that his 2019 stats reflect his Rule 5 jump from AA to ML, and that his minor league OPS was in the acceptable range for a SS with a good glove. He's got two months to prove he can hit. Of course, the bar isn't very high in Baltimore right now.
  5. I'd love to see someone do a study regarding the long term benefits of continually shuttling a pitcher like Wells (or any of a number of Oriole pitchers/players) back and forth between the majors and AAA vs just letting the guy work it out at the ML level. I understand teams in contention may not want to do that, but the O's are not that team.
  6. "Do I care if it's a walk or a hit? Pete." "No, you do not."
  7. You mean message board talk? I'm not here defend Jones, but I have to believe that if his infield defense is as atrocious as many imply, the Orioles brass, who watch him every day, wouldn't even waste the time at AAA playing him at 2B.
  8. Looks like the Mets aren't going to sign Rocker. Failed physical apparently.
  9. Same here; that's why I came to OH. Knew someone would have some insight. Breathing a sigh of relief.
  10. And a certain overall #1 pick is still in AA at 23. You never know.
  11. Should Mason McCoy still be on the SS radar? Otherwise, he's taking up space at Norfolk. He's 26.
  12. Looking at those weekly numbers, what strikes me is that he's been fairly consistent with only one bad week. I was looking at Buster Posey's career, and the most games he ever started behind the plate was 122. He's only been over 100 four times. Assuming Adley's up early in 2022, how many games do we envision him catching that first season?
  13. If we're talking about the same play, it epitomizes the Orioles lack of basic fundamentals. The infielder should have called him off that ball 100% of the time.
  14. The two homer night doesn't change anything for me. I've seen enough of Valaika to know he's nothing more than a utility player who should never get more than 100 plate appearances in a season. He's closing in on 200, and it's still July. SMH.
  15. One of the Twins message boards implies he opted to stay in Australia because of Covid concerns.
  16. Of course I can't find it now, but I read last night that the J/J vaccine has a 33% efficacy rate against the variants. Not worthless but not that effective either.
  17. I know they're new to this gig, but it's television. Occasionally, it's okay to let the images speak for themselves.
  18. They're sure taking their time getting these guys to their new teams, or at least not updating the team rosters to acknowledge the changes. McKenna shows up on Norfolk's roster but not Neustrom.
  19. I can't see any reason to keep Ryan Ripken at Norfolk now that Neustrom will be added to the roster, and there's certainly no reason to demote him to Bowie.
  20. I'm definitely glad to be wrong on this one. Good catch.
  21. A quick look at his game log seems to indicate Adley's hitting .176 while catching this year. 35 for 199. Apologies if my math is off. Yes, I know. He walks a lot.
  22. Unless he waited until his agent told him how much the O's were prepared to pay him before posting on Twitter.
  23. Looks like Connor Norby signed today. Maybe his road will provide some insight.
  24. I'd like to see some of the older AA pitchers moved up. Bishop 25 Knight 25 Lebron 27 (unless he's just considered roster filler) Sedlock 26 (he's either healthy or he's not) These guys have all had good seasons. Let's see what they can do in AAA and whether they actually have a future.
  25. It would be interesting to know which starting pitchers each is catching because that would make a big difference.
