Hays is too valuable in this blowout to get Cowser an ab.

Mountcastle and Hays should each be sitting a few days a week against righties. Mullins and Santander should also get the occasional day off. The only thing I can think of is that it’s the 2nd game and we were off yesterday. Theoretically there should be plenty of opportunities for Cowser to play.

Hays should be getting a few days off a week….he’s not the type of player that should be playing everyday on a championship team. He also didn’t hit the ball hard at all yesterday.

Cowser won’t start tomorrow either….lefty on the mound.

Would have liked to have seen Cowser pinch hit for hays in the 9th to get in the game.

I don’t see Cowser getting regular at bats. He won’t play much if at all against lefties and probably about half against righties so maybe a few games a week to start off. He could play his way into more time or get more time with an injury.

Hope we see the Mateo from April again.

Cowser is no lock to make the club either. I think he’ll make it but wouldn’t completely surprise me if he doesn’t.

It is correct. It’s based on the amount of time you are on the 26 man, not based on starting opening day.

They still can get a pick if Holliday wins rookie of the year. He doesn’t need to be on the opening day roster.

I don’t understand why anyone thought Holliday was making the team after yesterday’s game. You don’t play a starter in a reserve roll at the end of spring training…..and they would have given him more reps at 2nd with Gunnar.

Take a look around the league…..You won’t find many other Teams’ opening day second basemen coming into a spring training game in the 6th inning with 3 days left in spring training. The starters are either starting or resting.

Don’t have a good feeling about Holliday making the opening day roster after tonight’s game. It could happen if Wong opts out or if there’s a trade, but with 3 spring games left before opening day, they would likely have him starting next to gunner at this point.

Holliday and Mayo coming in at the end of the game while Wong, Nevin, McKenna start. It doesn’t make sense if you are looking to take Holliday North with only 3 more spring training days left. I still think it’s about 50/50 for Holliday and 0% for Mayo.

Holliday isn’t starting today - 2 days in a row.

Would love to see Mateo repeat last April. Could carry this team again.
