  1. I’m just happy that Hyde keeps clarifying that anytime Cowser gets into the game, it’s to give a starter rest or because someone is sick. We don’t want to hurt the ego of Hays.
  2. Hays hammers high velocity….better sit Cowser.
  3. Mateo has looked shakey at 2nd along with O’Hearn in the outfield. I don’t see this team valuing defense. I see them valuing veterans.
  4. Holliday is the easy answer and it’s not even close, barring injury. Kemp can easily be released to make room for him. I ask again….without injury, who is leaving this team anytime soon? I just don’t see them releasing Urias, O’hearn, Mateo, and especially not Hays. They also have very little trade value. If Holliday comes up for Kemp, then you have Cowser, Mateo, McCann, Urias as your bench. I could see other moves as we get into May, but can’t see anyone but Holliday before then.
  5. Who goes off the roster if an outfielder is called up? We currently can’t even get Cowser at bats.
  6. Hopefully we can get a baserunner to give Hays a shot at a walk off.
  7. If only we had better players to take their spots….oh wait….we do.
  8. Hyde would never pinch hit for Hays…he’s a veteran.
  9. I don’t really see a bad swing decision by Cowser. He just pulled off the ball a bit and didn’t stay on it….it happens in baseball.
  10. Povich averaged 92.1 on the fastball. I could see that ticking up to 93 after a few starts and warmer weather. That is not bad for a lefty with his stuff.
  11. I don’t understand why some correlate reducing the playing time for Hays to giving up on him. He can sit out a few games every week and put together a nice season. Again, he never was a superstar….he’s been a solid regular the last few years that should get around 400 at bats to maximize his talent and the talent around him.
  12. We can still get the extra pick if he comes up within the next few weeks…..it’s still on the table as of now.
  13. I don’t think his defense is anything special - defensive metrics don’t think it’s anything special - it’s perfectly fine(not trying to knock the guy). He has value but he’s certainly not the type of player that should get everyday at bats when you have Cowser/Heston/Stowers. You should be able to squeeze out more WAR by limiting his at bats and putting at least 1 of your lefty prospects in a position to succeed. I see him in a Jose Siri type role-getting somewhere between 300-400 PAs.
  14. Hays is average across the board. Average defense and offense….a valuable player but not someone that deserves to be starting every game if you have viable options. He could also be protected much more against righties which should increase his effectiveness.
  15. Get Cowser and Holliday into this lineup! It’s not like we have superstars blocking them!
  16. Please get Hays out of this line up for at least one day.
  17. Did anyone on this board seriously think Cowser wouldn’t start in the first 4 games and then Hyde’s answer is that as the season goes on it will be easier to get him in the lineup on rest days???? Apparently the team believes they have a better chance to win with Hays and Mountcastle playing most every game against a righty. That’s perfectly fine….then trade your players as I’m sure there are other teams that value our prospects more than this team.
  18. The Kemp signing makes more sense now. When Holliday comes up, look for Cowser to go back down…..Stowers 2.0
  19. I can’t believe any other team in baseball would not start a top prospect in 1 of the first 4 games of the season with mediocre players in front of him. They should have just put McKenna or a strictly defensive minded player as the extra outfielder if this was their plan.
  20. The Orioles are coming up with every excuse not to play Cowser….oh wait reverse splits for a righty….oh no, hays and mountcastle hit a righty well in a small sample. A good team needs to rotate players and not play 1-2 war players everyday.
  21. Kemp has more ABs than Cowser on the year. It looks like he’s getting the Stowers treatment.
  22. The Orioles need a new scoreboard. It’s one of the worst in the league.
  23. I can’t see Westburg ever ahead of Holliday. Westburg will be the team’s infield utility player most likely long term if he stays on the roster. It’s possible he could develop into something more but he won’t unseat Gunner or Holliday.
  24. Hays is too valuable in this blowout to get Cowser an ab.
