Why? Shake a minor league tree and 10 Stewart and Gutierrez type players fall out.

Ha, well you know I am a Guterriez fan. I think he should be our 3b now based on glove alone and see if he hits. If he doesn’t, oh well. But I get it, I clearly am the only Guterriez fan on here.

Yes, it clearly was a salary dump. Was just referring to the fact that in the larger temporal framework, our plans with Cobb didn't bear fruit, just as with Jimenez and Gallardo before him.

Salary dump or not it would be nice to see some Elias prospects received in trades pan out.

It's painfully obvious that Grayson Rodriguez is ready for the majors, but I thought that was true after his last start and yet they didn't bring him up, so who knows.  I just hope his next start is in the majors.

Just absurd if he isn’t staring in the majors next turn. I have mentioned this in several threads but think he is more ready/deserving than AR.

Sorta miss Chirinos' clutch power. J/K.

Well of course AR will be fine but no sense in burning him out when there are other options. Nottingham in AAA really swinging the bat well but no way he makes it up without an injury.

    We need a starter Tuesday.

You could bring a guy from Norfolk up to start Tuesday and send Bradish down.   Then send guy-from-Norfolk down Tuesday and bring up G-Rod to start Wednesday.

But looking at it based on "when are the openings" is probably the wrong way to look at it.   Rodriguez will come up whenever Elias deems the appropriate time, for whatever reasons he may or may not be using.   Needing someone to start a game at the major league level won't factor into it, based on the way we have seen Elias do things.

Thank you Sir. I am ready to get this show on the road. Guy is a stud and has nothing to prove at Norfolk. I’d send Bradish back down and possibly use his value as a trade commodity at the deadline if they feel he can’t stick at starter.  He’s still desirable.

Well, I still think he’ll hit. I doubt he can be a frontline 2B. He doesn’t have the power for an everyday corner OF. It’s unfortunate, but I hope he goes unclaimed and remains in the organization. The chances are good that he stays, unless another org wants to claim and then DFA him themselves.

    Agreed.

I would have bet against Sedlock ever spending a day in the Majors.  His FIP is a decent 4.04 this year so the 5.83 ERA doesn’t tell the whole story.

I like the optimism. Red Sox offense stiff competition.

Isn’t Lyles pitching game 1 though? Reyes game 2?

I like that they aren’t playing Rutschman at DH for game one. Let him take a rest before catching game two of the doubleheader.

He’s not exactly swinging a hot bat as of yet so makes sense.

I was just thinking they might DFA Jones. Out of options this Fall, and he surely would not stick in the Spring coming off TJ. If they put him on the 60 day IL, he would have had to be paid the prorated portion of the $700K MLB minimum. And he really has not impressed enough to stay on the 40 man in 2022.

    Yep, def wasn’t a nugget.

I'll be absolutely shocked if Rocker goes that high. He hasn't thrown (at least to anyone's knowledge or witness) in almost a year. I know '22 Draft is thin on top end pitching but that would be a seriously risky pick. I'm not saying it won't happen, but I frankly will be surprised if he goes Round 1 at all.

Whoever did that mock must work for Rocker 😂😂😂 Late first round-early second best case.

It's not that bad, IMO.  Not all of these guys are going to be brilliant and engaging in front of the media.  Not all of these guys are going to like answering questions, especially after a bit of struggling.  Maybe there's a little bit of Bedard here, and that's fine.

Which brings me to the best ever Bedard/media exchange:

Bedard:  "I'm only allowing three questions."

    Reporter:  "Why only three questions?"

    Bedard:  "That's one."

    I died.  That was hilarious.
