He was hitting the ball hard without results prior to his abdominal injury. But the last two days he has not looked comfortable. May be a case of him rushing back before he’s ready because the team is so banged up.
That seems quite probable, agreed. They needed his bat but def looks less than 100%.

At this point, just assume that Diaz is on the IL at all times, and be shocked and amazed when he isn't. It's easier on the soul and constitution than the other way around.
Heartbreaking.

Oh no we suck again!

Made another great throw last night for Norfolk. https://twitter.com/norfolktides/status/1525646508355473408?s=21&t=x57zWwHGDKk2vAwDM-Jxng

I wish someone would fix the spelling of Zimmermann’s name in the thread title.
A good outing by Zim today. He’d allowed 2 runs through 6 IP, one of which was partially due to McKenna misplaying a double and allowing the runner to get to third, from which he scored on a sac fly. But he clearly was losing it in the 6th, allowing two loud outs to the deep OF (one on an excellent running backhand catch near the wall by McKenna) to end the inning. It was very obvious he’d been lucky to escape that inning unscathed and should be removed. But for some reason Hyde left him in and the leadoff hitter in the 7th absolutely tattooed the first pitch he saw for a long home run. Then Hyde belatedly pulled him. So, his line ended up at 6 IP, 3 R.
Solid outing but 5-6 IP may be his absolute limit.
Great number 5 guy. But gotta see if he can build that up which is likely what Hyde was doing.

I like Diaz’s potential but definitely disheartening.

5/14, 0-5 with a walk and 4 more Ks. Dude is really struggling.
Just saw that, absolutely brutal.

I want McKenna, Bemboom, Odor, and Owings gone for good, and Urias sent down.
Urias is really struggling. I am not ready to give up yet, plus nobody to replace him barring a trade.

I quoted you. You specifically said that Martin would have a great career. Didn't you? Do you still feel that way?
Looks like an upside of super utility type but obp always plays. I don’t feel as strongly now of course, no. But you go bpa, period. Any number folks below may be better but he didn’t think Kerjstad was better.

Anyone see anything in the stats to give hope. I think his walk wait is high which won’t fit. Maybe the Os think they can improve?

1. How does Bannon get a long look with Guterriez at 3b?
2. Diaz just went back in the IL.Wait what??? After yesterday’s game? Damn it!

I think you might have been able to get something for him last season.
That moment has passed.
Without question.

So, I’ve been watching Odor closely to see if there was any chance he could be resuscitated at the plate. I’m convinced that he can’t. He’s got an open stance, and he’s trying to turn on pitches, but he can’t. Anything hard on the outside part of the plate he either misses entirely or hits weak foul pops into the stands. Plus he’s got this hitchy loop in his swing, trying to generate power, that just generates pop-ups. He’s done, done, done.
I kind of like the way he starts and finishes double plays. He’s much better at that than any of last year’s second basemen. But that’s about his only positive quality. He’s error prone and his range is average at best.
I wish I could say we had some obviously better alternative now, but we don’t. But I’m ready to try anyone else.
Amen. I strongly believe Urias at 2b, Mateo at SS and Guterriez at 3b is our best team with Bannon getting a long look. Martin as utility perhaps. Pitching needs a strong defense. Adley should slightly improve offense and maybe give Diaz a look if Hays out longer. Just my .02

I'm just making the point that you felt pretty strongly about Martin too. Do you think maybe you were wrong on that one?
No. I wanted Lacy but would have taken Martin too. I think both had higher ceilings. Lacy I really liked.
Like I said, love your posts/commentary. Appreciate it.

Sulser is a 28 year-old 2017 10th round senior sign out of Dartmouth.
He is Cole Sulser's younger brother.
I like it and Fry was really struggling.

For the life of me I don't understand how Owings holds a spot on this team.
Gets on base, but you know I agree:)

I don't think Martin is going to have a great career but the odds are even greater it won't be with the Blue Jays.
Let's see how you do with Lawlar.
Will do. I strongly believe Lawlar was the pick. Even the guy the Nats picked.
but nothing personal man, appreciate your commentary

Yep well overall. Jury is out for how well he's done considering what he's had to work with.
You could probably do "well" by picking Baseball America's choice for each pick.

He just made another very nice play in the 6th. Very good.
Just needs to be more selective at that plate, guessing they are working on that.

This is a pretty silly comment.
1. Why does the fact that Cowser is playing LF tonight say anything about whether he can play CF? He’s played 18 games in CF, and 5 at the corners, about once a week. He’s also DH’d 4 times.
2. Show us where you said Cowser couldn’t play CF, and where somebody laughed. Everyone understood when he was signed that he was one of these guys who might not be a CF at the major league level. Then you shouldn’t be taking a corner OFer that high. Particularly when you have no franchise SS.

I think many of your posts are absurd. IMO, he and his team have drafted well and hiring Koby Perez was a great way to get our international program up to respectability. Is he infallible? No. I think he has done a good job but the ultimate proof will be results at the ML level.
If you want to debate something specific, let me know.
Did you like Lawlar?
